Observation Task 3: Mapping Environments:

The Learning Environment

Focus: The learning environment.

Objective:
For student teachers to map the learning environment that exists in
the classroom including the layout of the seated area and learning
centres.

Make a sketch of the classroom and identify the


function of each area.

Procedure:
Draw a map of the learning environment within the classroom and
list the functions of each of the activity areas. If possible take
photographs of the classroom including displays on the wall.
Examples:
Area Function
Water area Washing art equipment/organizing art
activities
Library suitable books and story for each age.
wall It have words and picture to encourage childe
to read and study by them self.
Student table Each table have a table number from one to
hundred to make it easier for the child to count
in math lesson.
Reading corner Corner for student to set together and there
teacher read a story for them.

After the observation


Think about why the classroom layout is organized as it is. Ask your
MST why the desk/tables are arranged as they are and the function
of each area of the classroom.

As I see most teachers are using group organization. when I


ask their teacher about the reason she said that it is much
easier for students to share their emotion also it is suitable
for the actives they have especially they are doing a lot of
activity.
