Competency 2a Narrative

There are an unbelievably large amount of things to consider when

creating a report for any student. In putting together my 564 Case Study, I

had the gift of time. I had far more time to work with my students in my

previous employment than I do this year. Since I was working in an RSP

setting, there was a set time every class for every day in which my students

were able to do their own independent work. I was able to use that time to

put together the assessments I created for the Case Study. However, I think

my biggest help was the rubric. It broke down every step that I needed to do

in order to finish the Case Study and create an in-depth report for one

student.

Unfortunately, my present level of performance summary is not as

thorough as what I created back then. I knew I could reuse the same

breakdown that I did for my case study. There are countless resources that

could help me create an amazing PLOP. However, I was not given the gift of

time. I just did not have the time and resources this school year to be that

thorough in creating a report. I did not assess in every available domain that

I could for any of my students. I did assess in every possible domain that I

could at the time. Id like to say that I did my best, but part of me is scared

that my best may not be good enough.

However, part of me feels as if Im still too hard on myself. As Ive

mentioned in some of my reflective journals, Ive increased the standards in

which I base all my actions on. While I may not lower my standards anytime

soon, at the very least, I know that I am trying to do my best.
