Family and Community Engagement:

Over both semesters, I attended many sports events, chaperoned school

dances and attended music recitals for Fortuna Middle School. Often I was

the administrator in charge and these events were put on with both school

staff, student council and the PTO. We put on three dances over the year

and these all raised money for student council and in particular the eighth

grade trip. I attended both girls and boys basketball games in grades 5-8.

This is such a great way to connect with our students. They come to class

asking if are going to come see them play. The following day they are so

excited that you came to watch them. This is an important component for

any school administrator and/or teacher. It helps to make a connection to

your students. I also attendee LCAP meetings as well as school board

meetings where we gave awards to students from all schools within our

district.
