Reflection Semester 2

The second semester in the educational leadership was in secondary

education. My site supervisor this semester was Jennifer Fairbanks who is

the principal for HCOE-Court and Community Schools. This placement was

much different for me and way out of my comfort zone. Juvenile Hall and the

court schools are open over all holiday breaks so I was able to visit most of

the court school sites during that time. Eel River Community was what I had

expected but the juvenile hall facility and the Regional facility were a bit

different. During my visits, I was able to talk to many of the staff and

observe the students for much of their day. I had very meaningful

discussions with the staff at all sites. I liked going over to Eel River

Community to observe the students during their drug and alcohol instruction.

I was also able to do many of my hours within my own school site.

The courses this year were very informative as well. The most difficult class

for me was the Legal and Fiscal Aspects class because I felt like I had no

understanding of the budget when I began this process. Now, I have

somewhat of a grasp of the process. My favorite class was with Tom Pender

who is the alternative representative/speaker who I believe is retired. I really

connected with his belief system and the way he handles some of our most

difficult students. This is what I would like to do; helping students who feel
outside of the system. I have to say that my cohort is amazing and that I

respect each and every person. I will undoubtedly reach out to everyone for

help in my future. This was a great process!!
