I spoke with the student's mother at the start of the session and discussed recent progress. Her mother also
informed me that she is practicing at home with the provided homework sheets. The homework sheets are sent
home after each session. A progress blurb and suggestions for practice are also included on the sheets. This
open communication with the family aids in carryover of skills into the home environment.

Ms. Blehart was observed interacting with the student' s mother at drop off. It was evident that they
communicate on a weekly basis with regards to the carryover of skills. The family appeared to be completely
engaged in the student's learning.

I speak with the student's mother prior to every session. We discuss therapy progress, home practice, and
additional techniques to elicit speech sound production.

It was evident based on observation of a conversation between Ms. Mason and the student's mother that Ms.
Mason communicates frequently with the family to ensure carryover of skills at home. The family was very
aware of what the student was working on during therapy and easily provided feedback to Ms. Mason
regarding his performance at home.

I speak with the student's mother prior to every session. We discuss how the student performed with his
homework assignments and his progress in his outpatient speech therapy. I also provide suggestions to his
mother on how to elicit speech sounds at home. This aids in planning for future sessions because if a technique
is not working I can plan and try other techniques for the family to use with the student. Communication with
families is also important for carryover of learned skills.

Ms. Mason was observed communicating with the family before and after the session. They discussed
carryover of skills at home and what the student is working on in private therapy.
