Personal Insight Question #2

Carlos Ortiz

Every person has a creative side, and it can be expressed in many ways: problem solving,
original and innovative thinking, and artistically, to name a few. Describe how you express your
creative side.

Creativity is a concept reflecting authentic and innovative thinking within what is intangible or
physical, though, its fundamental aspects are interpreted differently by many. Additionally, the
implementation of creativity in society requires individuals who express themselves artistically
with attention to detail into their desired product, an expression often difficult to find.

Originality has always been significant to me, and I portray it through my unique designs in
computer programming. With this skill, the application of developing different ways to have a
computer process code in Java has given me an advantage to further understand and educate
others in the importance of creative thinking. Outside of the classroom, my ingenuity in code has
allowed me to design my personal website as well as the informational website for a small
company through HTML & CSS. Altogether, the function of these skills have allowed me to
diverse my experience in creative thinking, and ultimately aid me in my pursuit for a future
career in computer science.

By creating music through the marimba, a pitched percussion instrument that provides a dynamic
field of sound and tone, I express creativity in a variety of ways that are unique to my abilities
and desires. Artistically speaking, the marimba is a tool for performance and composition that
reflect my emotions and insight on how I perceive themes, though, its a skill that I value
because of the influence it has on others. During marching band and drumline practice, I apply
my creativity to perform and showcase my individuality to judges; however, after school I
personally compose music on my own time to share the experience with others. This ambition is
peculiar to me, and I plan on composing and performing music as a side occupation in the future.

Individuals reproduce creativity in diverse manners, however, my creative side is dominant in

authentic thinking that shares an experience with other individuals for the benefit of all.
