USED TO AND WOULD

Cuando hablamos de actividades recurrentes en el pasado podemos utilizar dos

construcciones, que en muchos casos son equivalentes used to y would:

Last year, I used to / would walk to work, but this year I go by a car.

1. would se utiliza ms en un registro literario y tiene una connotacin nostlgica

respecto a una situacin agradable del pasado que no contina en el presente:
When I was a child, my mom would read me a story before going to bed.

2. used to se utiliza en todo tipo de contextos que hacen referencia a una situacin
que no contina en el presente:
When I was a student, I used to stay up all night reading.

Importante: cuando se trata de un verbo de estado (to be , to have, to love, to hate,

etc.) o de una situacin ininterrumpida en el pasado, solo podemos utilizar used to:
I used to love classical music.
I used to be thinner when I was young.
