    Answer:

    If we displace q slightly towards right from its neutral point position N, force due to Q 2
    towards left will increase and due to Q1 towards right will decrease. As net force is
    towards left, it will try to return to its earlier position.

    So, test charge is in stable equilibrium along the line joining the two charges.

    In the line perpendicular to the line joining the two particles the charge is in unstable
    equilibrium.
