The project titled “Southern Punjab Development


Programme” lunched during Current financial year (2009-10) which
includes the schemes which are strategic in nature, having immediate
impact, benefit maxim area of the region, pro poor and job creating.
The portfolio of the scheme has been identified by committee headed
by Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Senior. Advisor to Chief Minister
Punjab. Commissioner of the Division was entrusted the responsibility
to identification of the scheme in consultation with local
representative.

The scheme finalized for implementation under SPDP are


enclosed as annexure “A”

Cholistan Development Authority (CDA)

The schemes being implemented under Cholistan Development Authority


are enclosed as annexure “B”

1. D.G.Khan (District D.G.Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah and Muzaffargarh)

The project titled “Southern Punjab Development Programme” lunched


during Current financial year (2009-10) which includes the schemes which are strategic
in nature, having immediate impact, benefit maxim area of the region, pro poor and job
creating. The portfolio of the scheme has been identified by committee headed by Sirdar
Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Senior. Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab. Commissioner of the
Division was entrusted the responsibility to identification of the scheme in consultation
with local representative.

The schemes finalized for implementation under SPDP are enclosed as


annexure “A”
2. Tribal Area Development Project
The scheme approved with cost of Rs.3380.940 million for implementation in
Tribal Area of D.G.Khan and Rajanpur and includes the following components:

a) Physical Infrastructure Development


b) Community Development
c) Social Infrastructure
The plan of action of the scheme has been approved by project steering committee
in its meeting held on 03-02-2010 which was subsequently approved by Senior. Advisor to
Chief Minister Punjab.

An amount of Rs. 70.000 million have been release during current financial
year for implementation of the scheme

3. Punjab Economic Opportunities Programme (PEOP)


The major components of the programme are as under:

1. Skill Development

2. Livestock & Dairy Development

3. Technical Assistant

4. Center for Inclusive Growth

The Project will implement in four districts of Southern Punjab as under:

• Bahawalpur

• Bahwalnagar

• Lodhran

• Muzaffargarh

The scheme was approved by PDWP at a total cost of Rs. 7530.00 million. The
same has been cleared by CDWP for approval of ECNEC. The specific objectives of PEOP are
as follows:

• Support the marginalized regions in Punjab through policy level


interventions and direct intervention at the grass root level.

• Poverty alleviation through improvement in credentials and quality of


human resource.

• Improve skill levels to increase income opportunities of the unemployed


by improving income level of employed by improve their skill set.

• Improve their income by enhancing the quantity and quality of their


livestock.

• Provision of marketable skill and interventions to improve incomes of the


poor farmers in the livestock and diary sector.

The project titled “Southern Punjab Development


Programme” lunched during Current financial year (2009-10) which
includes the schemes which are strategic in nature, having immediate
impact, benefit maxim area of the region, pro poor and job creating.
The portfolio of the scheme has been identified by committee headed
by Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Senior. Advisor to Chief Minister
Punjab. Commissioner of the Division was entrusted the responsibility
to identification of the scheme in consultation with local
representative. The Programme is being implemented in following
Divisions / districts:

1. Bahawalpur Division (District Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar


and R.Y.Khan)

2. D.G.Khan (District D.G.Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah and Muzaffargarh)

3. Multan (District Multan, Khanewal, Vehari and Lodhran)

P&D Department has already issued advice Rs. 2000


million against the current year for release of funds to Finance
Department. They have so far released only Rs. 877.153 million. The
lists of schemes finalized for implementation under SPDP are enclosed.
