FIELD INSPECTION REPORT

DRAINAGE
MAIN DRAINAGE WAYS OF TACLOBAN CITY:
Abucay River
Naga-Naga River
Mangonbangon River
Langhas-Lirang River
Sagkahan River
Pleasantville River
Burayan River

General Observation
1. Most of the waterways are fully to partially blocked with garbage
2. Insufficient freeboard

3. Silted rendering the waterway inefficient to drain the area

4. Found with parts previous structure still within waterway
5. Permanent structures are encroaching the waterways including main
waterlines (in blue)

6. Waterway widths are often times constricted at cross-drain sites

7. Waterway cross-drainage are sometimes in two barrel of which wall at the
center will accummulate debris during storm that will eventually block the
drainage

8. There are waterway drainage outlet and inlets that were blocked by
structures
9. Waterways widths are reduced and constructed with bank revetemets
having sharp bends (90 degree) due to ROW problem

10.Often times water supply lines are installed through and crossing the
waterways accummulating debris
11.There are dowmstream culvert outlets that are blocked due a construction of
a private building or inside private property
12.Blocked waterway replaced with insufficient RCPC

13.Stagnant cannal due to blocked cross-drain downstream

14.There are RCBC sites that need to be re-assessed for possible bridge sites

15.Multiple barrel culverts need to replaced

SCOPE OF WORK

-TACLOBAN CITY DRAINAGE

1. Hydrological Study Update.

- Check waterway capacities. Conduct basic hydrological update to the
above waterways to check present waterway capacities.

2. Hydraulic Analysis.
- To derive the following:

a) Appropriate cross-drain sizes that will include possible bridge sites

b) Flood levels for possible roadway level adjustment
c) Waterway cross-sections
d) Waterway buffer zones or easement to act as water width allowance
during flood
e) Appropriate waterway bank slope protections
3. Recommend Options for Implementation
4. Plans and Details
5. Design Report

-TIDAL PROTECTION

1. Hyrological Study
- Identify and conduct additional hydrological analysis to waterways that
will be crossed
by the tidal dike
a) Provide option for a collecting canal before the dike
b) All wateray-through dike option

2. Hydraulic Analysis
- To derive the sizes of these stuctures
- Type of protections

-BY PASS ROAD

3. Hyrological Study
- Identify and conduct hydrological analysis to waterways that will cross
the by pass road
a) Derived design discharges for RCPCs, RCBCs or possible bridge sites
b) Compute design discharges for necessary side ditches

4. Hydraulic Analysis
- To derive the sizes of these stuctures
- Type of slope protections
- Recommend embankment height where necessary
- Conduct bridge hydraulics for bridge sites

-ROAD UPGRADING

5. Hyrological Study
- Conduct hydrological investigation to existing waterway structures
crossing
the road
c) Derived design discharges for existing RCPCs, RCBCs or bridge sites
d) Compute design discharges for existing side ditches
6. Hydraulic Analysis
- Check the sizes of these existing stuctures and recommend upgrading if
necessary
- Check of slope protections
- Conduct bridge hydraulics if necessary
- Conduct ditch hydraulics for new locations
Identify possible underdrain sites
