Introduction
For this project I will be creating and developing a game. In this piece of work, I will
document all the different aspects of the game and explain how the game will work and all
the other features in the game. I will also be creating this document to showcase the
atheistic of the game and explain how the game will be created and informing the different
aspects of the game. I will be researching about the industry for my game and displaying this
Game language
When creating a video game product, you need to ensure that you do not offend anyone
who is the target audience. For example, if the target audience were kids you will need to
ensure that anything you put in the product that wont offend the users. Also this protects
such as racist comments which will offend people and affect the product. This will always be
breaking the law and could cause a lot of problems. People may be most likely to break the
law on the internet because people may think that theyre anonymous. But you can be
tracked and found so everything needs to be considered before publishing to the world.
There is rules that can help you to avoid is.
- You arent allowed to use a picture, video or sound unless the person who has full
control of the assets give you permission to use them.
- You cant make a written statement of someone which could offend them and any
abusive language which could affect their reputation.
- You arent allowed to use anyones piece of work without permission (copyright law)
- You have to be careful that you dont offend someone this goes by
- Race
- Gender (female and male)
- Sexuality (homosexual and heterosexual)
- Disability
- Nationality
- Class (higher class or lower class)
- Age (adults and children)

On my product I made sure that I did not breach any of the above. I made sure that the
product was suitable for anyone for example different races and made sure any content on
my product wouldnt offend anyone. I did this by not including any racial or sexuality words
in the game because it may offend people.
My game will cover all languages so anybody can play the game. I will feature this at the
start of the game so people can choose what language they want to play in and then the
subtitles and text will show that language.

Game title
For the game title I have done so research on different game titles to get an idea. Firstly, I
looked at the first person shooters to get an idea of what sort of titles they are using. I have
decided to name my game title The Force. The reason why I chose this title because the
game emphasis forcing the other team to surrender and with it being a first person shooter I
think that the title suits the game itself. The force represents the army and forcing people to
attack the enemies so I thought that naming this would be a great idea because my game is
an army game and I think the force shows the object for the game.

Format of game
When designing my game, I will need to consider what format I will be presenting the game
on and be selling it. After all the research on different platforms I have decided to develop
the game for the PC gaming community and the console gamers. I have done this because
these 2 are the most popular gamers and I do not want to define my target audience to a
specific console so I will make sure that the game is available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
When searching for different formats for the game I came across gaming software that the
majority of the PC gaming population use and this is called steam. Steam allows players to
buy different games online using digital paying methods and I researched a lot of the
amount of purchases and not a lot of people buy their games in store now so I think that it
will be beneficial for my game if the game is allowed to be purchased online.

Genre it fits into
The genre that I will be creating for the video game is a first person shooter. First-person
shooter (FPS) is a video game genre centered on gun and projectile weapon-based combat
through a first-person perspective. The player experiences the action through the eyes of
the character. The first-person shooter shares common traits with other shooter games,
which in turn fall under the heading action game. Like most shooter games, first-person
shooters involve an avatar, one or more ranged weapons, and a varying number of enemies.
This is because they take place in a 3D environment, these games tend to be somewhat
more realistic than 2D shooter games, and have more accurate representations of gravity,
lighting, sound and collisions. First-person shooters played on personal computers are most
often controlled with a combination of a keyboard and mouse. This system has been
claimed as superior to that found in console games. My game will be played on both PC and
games consoles however I think it will be better if the game is played with a controller
because it will make a better playing experience for the user.
Just like other first person shooters, looks mean a lot to the FPS. With a number of exotic
locales, copious amounts of explosions and scores of the enemy team, graphics tend to
mean a lot to the genre. Look at a game like Gears of War despite being a third-person
shooter, the principles remain.

Identify audience
The audience for a video game is very important when creating a game because normally
different types of games have audiences catered towards that certain sector. As game
developers we tend to think of people as hard-core gamers and casual gamers, as if
people magically fit into these two buckets. So if subscriptions are for hard-core gamers,
then your free game should target casual gamers And theres a whole lot more of them
than there are hard-core gamers. But theres no such thing as a casual gamer. Its not a real
target audience.
Here are some of the things people might mean when they say casual gamer"
People who dont like games very much, but would if they played my game
People who are really bad at games, so need easy games
People who only play games at work during lunch breaks
My audience will cater for all types of gamers which could be hard-core, core or casual gamers
because I think that if I broader my audience the game will be more successful.
The target audience is very important when creating a video game. The age range that a
game aims at is also important. My game is going to be a first person shooter so I will need
to consider my target audience. Many shooting games have an age where the game can
only be played by a certain age and this is going to be same for me. The age that a person
can play my game will be 18+ this is because the game implements shooting and gory
situations in the game and I think that 18 is a suitable age for a person to play the game.
Also the guns in the game are also not suitable for younger audience so I need to make sure
I do not promote the game to that audience instead keep it at 18 +.
The gender of my game that I will be targeting at is going to be both male and female
because I feel that it will be suitable for both genders to play the game. However, I do know
that the majority of people who play first person shooters are normally male however I will
not just focus on one gender. In online gaming, the majority of the gaming population is
male. In fact, 40 percent of gamers online are female and the number of females gamers
over the age of eighteen compose a greater part of the gamer population than males under
the age of seventeen. In video games, since males by nature exhibit traits of
competitiveness, aggression, and being ambitious, men are more likely to find interest in
video games and are more likely to play them longer and more frequently than women.
Statistics show that female gamers are generally more interested in character or story
driven games that are on the less violent side. As a result, females tend to gravitate more
towards action adventure and role playing games.

Market research
The gaming community is a very big part of peoples lives. Game communities are
empowering. For lonely kids growing up in big schools crammed with sports stars and
bullies, they are a means of making friends and becoming a part of something exciting and
fulfilling. A community is basically something very simple: it's just a group of people,
gathering somewhere to talk and exchange ideas about one or several subjects. There have
been gaming communities for ages, but they began to grow bigger and stronger with the
internet. To build a gaming community, the players just need a game to talk about, and a
place for discussion. Most of the time, it all starts with a forum, a few people, a lot of
passion about a game.
The gaming community is a massive culture. There are different gaming venues that people
attend for complete enjoyment for example the call of duty world championships. This is
where the top players in the world compete against each other for a prize money. People
tune in on websites like Twitch.TV to watch the game and also people even fly out to the
venue to watch them play in person. It is just like what people who go to watch the football
game. When researching the genre and the audience for market research I came across
different parts of the community for example the different gamers and the level of gaming
they do.
These are some different types of gamers across the community.

Core
A core or mid-core gamer is a player with a wider range of interests than a casual gamer and
is more likely to enthusiastically play different types of games, but without the amount of
time spent and sense of competition of a hard-core gamer. There is a big different from
"hard-core gamers" to "core gamers" because core gaming consists of playing a lot of the
game however not as much as hard-core gaming. Hard-core gaming is much more
competitive and the person takes a lot of time playing the video game. This is very common
for games like world of Warcraft and call of duty because the competitive scene which is
called "esports" is very big. Esports is a competitive venue that all the top professionals at
the game compete for big money prizes for example the world championship has a check of
1 million dollars for the team who wins the tournament.
I think that my game will include core gamers because it is very similar to call of duty and I
know that that franchise has a lot of fans who are you core gamers so I will need to cater
towards these as well as the hard-core gamers.

Casual
A casual game is a video game targeted at or used by a mass audience of casual gamers.
Casual games can have any type of gameplay, and fit in any genre. They are typically
distinguished by their simple rules and lack of commitment required in contrast to more
complex hard-core games. A casual gamer is someone who works and spend a lot of time
doing different things in their spare time and then once in a while plays the video game
without any competitiveness to their gameplay.
For my game I will include the casual gamer for my target audience because it is important
to broader my target audience without leaving any people out because I understand that
people dont have a lot of time to play video games so therefore I will make sure the casual
gamers have a pleasant time playing the game.

With my game being similar to games like call of duty and battlefield mine isn't the only
game that is first person shooters. There are many games out there that are very successful
first person shooters. The games that are similar to mine is call of duty and battlefield 1.
Multiplayer is a big part for both my game and call of duty and it is with most recent games
because connecting to other people around the world is very important and with games
being more advanced connecting to multiplayer and playing with friends is a big part of the
gaming industry now.
Both games have implemented multiplayer and this is why the 2 games are really popular
because the games have been around for years and already had great success with
multiplayers. Call of Duty plays a big part in the multiplayer industry and players from all
over the world compete against each other to be the best at the game. A massive part of
multiplayer is the competitive play for call of duty and even people play call of duty to win
money which is up to 1 million dollars.

Territories
For my game I will include territories because my game is a first person shooter which is
very competitive and the different kind of maps that will be included into the game will
show the scenery and the main object for the game is to take over the map and destroy the
enemys equipment and soldiers until they are all gone. On the map there will be different
game modes which may consist of capturing a part of the map and defend it and this is
called headquarters. The main object of this mode is to take over a building on
multiplayer and then maintain it by defending the building. I think that the game will be very
enjoyable if there were objectives to defend the territories and gain points for the team.
The game is very much involving a team based gameplay because if people work as a team it
will be more beneficial for the outcome of the game so it is important that teamwork Is
implemented into the game. Most of the maps

Theme of game
The theme of the game is of course a first person shooter however the game includes a lot
gorier scenes in than the usual first person shooter. The first person perspective steps up
the level in game and allows the player to feel like they are the character. Traditionally the
use of a first person perspective was largely limited to certain genre such as adventure
games, driving, arcade game and shooting games. The first person perspective is used in Call
of duty throughout the campaign and multiplayer. A game like that feels more like a
survival-horror game, where the player only uses their ammo cautiously, because they
never know when theyll find extra or when theyll run out. Compare to a game where you
have enemies that respawn in each area, random item drops, and stores where you can sell
the random drops and buy as much extra ammo as you need.

Structure

All games have different kinds of structures to their games. To start off with, just about
every video game boots up to a main menu. This is usually a screen with some type of
background, with an arrangement of buttons for actions such as new game or start game,
options, load game and quit game. This screen acts as a control panel for the game, allowing
the player to change settings, choose modes, or access the actual game.

When you first start up the game a series of splash screens are shown. A splash screen
contains elements such as logos, movies, and so forth.
The player's role in the character. There are usually 3 types of PCR, 3rd person, 1st person
and influence:

3rd person: The player is not the character but instead is controlling the
character/characters impersonally.
1st Person: The player is the character/characters - and sees things from the characters
point of view both personally and visually.

Overview
The overview of the game will be based on the environment and the storyline for the game
because I think they are the most important factors in the game. The environment of the
game is very important because I want my game to be visually pleasing. I know that the
scenery of the game will be one of the main parts of the game because I want the game
looking crisp and almost real life. Just like other first person shooters, looks mean a lot to
the FPS. With a number of exotic locales, copious amounts of explosions and scores of the
enemy team, graphics tend to mean a lot to the genre. Look at a game like Gears of War
despite being a third-person shooter, the principles remain. Head shots feature bloody alien
gib, character models have an exaggerated realism to them, and this is all against the
backdrop of gritty broken-down buildings. Also the gameplay will have cinematics of the
scenery of the game. The use of this is to break the gameplay up and also make it more
realistic. Some games prove to be so good in their storyline by using cut-scenes that they
are created and achieved. The reason graphics are important in the FPS is because the
audience will want to play with a realistic feel to the game and be playing in high quality.
They arent marketed towards housewives or fringe gamers; these are for the hard-core
crowd who wants to see their machine pushed to its graphical limits.

All features

The features that are included in the game are will involve the same kind of movement that
the call of duty franchise has however I will implement a movement which allows the
players to jump in the air which is something different from all of the other games. I will also
a campaign which is a single player mode in the game. Also I will have a scrolling computer
display technology. The move from single-screen or flip-screen graphics to scrolling
graphics, during the golden age of video arcade games and during third-generation
consoles, would prove to be a pivotal leap in game design, comparable to the move to 3D
graphics during the fifth generation.

The scrolling feature is in the call of duty franchise. It is featured on the startup menu and
the player can scroll up and down to select features like creating a class and options,

Multiplayer games allow players interaction with other individuals in partnership,
competition or rivalry, providing them with social communication absent from single-player
games. Multiplayer is a big part for both games and it is with most recent games because
connecting to other people around the world is very important and with games being more
advanced connecting to multiplayer and playing with friends is a big part of the gaming
industry now.

Characters
For my game there is different kind of characters which will feature in the storyline. My
game is a first person shooter which is very similar to the call of duty scene and this is the
same as the characters. When researching different characters, I had a look at the different
games which have the same game to get an idea of what characters I include in my game. I
have decided to go with simple characters but make sure that they are easily identified in
the game and I will do this by including individual characters and customize them to make
them their own character. I will also include the option for the player to change their
character for their preference. One of the characters will be named Captain Low and
Sargent Price. These will be the main characters which will be played in the storyline.
However, for the multiplayer part of the game I will not include individual characters
therefore I have implemented a creation character which will make the player create their
own player.

The visual style of the character in my first person shooter is quite normal for a shooting
game character however I have included different parts of the character for example the
gadgets and pockets on the soldiers clothing. The visuals for the character are very different
to any other games because the colours are unique to any other first person shooter games.
The main colours for the character is green, black and purple. I have chosen this because I
think that the colours are very vibrant and are also attractive to the players. The character
for the game features other objects not just the actual soldier. The weaponry is along with
the characters so for the guns I have implemented a camo selection for the player so they
can choose what colour the gun will be. On the sketch the gun is black however it can
change.

Game mechanics
Many action games also share similar design mechanics, too. The player usually progresses
from level to level while the game's challenge level creeps up at a steady rate. The terrain
gradually becomes more treacherous to navigate, and the enemies become trickier to
defeat. Most action games top off levels (or a group of levels) with a "boss fight," which
involves going toe-to-toe with a particularly big bad guy that requires a little extra finesse
and/or strength to beat. Action games typically give the player multiple means of attack,
though there's almost always a shared theme at work.
For all games game setting is a very important part of the game because it allows the user to
change their gaming experience for their own preferences. For example, there is different
settings such as "colour blind assist" which is featured on the call of duty settings and this
helps with people who are colour blind so its very important to people if they include
settings like this. The most popular game settings are the call of duty ones because
everyone has their own settings and a setting called "sensitivity" which is for how fast the
movement on the controller will be and the player can change this by changing the
sensitivity

Storyline
The storyline for my game will be unique to any other first person because I will include
different The gameplay of my game will be original to any other game and I think this will be
successful because the gamers will never have played a game like mine which could go both
ways. They could not enjoy it because they are not use to the movement however it could
be intriguing for them and something new which maybe they will enjoy. The storyline will
consist of 2 main characters for the game who join the navy and fight against their enemies
and go on a journey together and build a big relationship. The storyline of the game will only
be played on the single player because I think that the storyline will not be as good if it was
continued on multiplayer. The use of a storyline is to take the player on a journey and
engage them.

Game environment
The environment of the game is very important because I want my game to be visually

Final character, final environment


On Call of Duty there is different characters on the campaign. The characters all play a part
of the story and the game makes the player a part of it too. In the multiplayer the game
features different character for maps. If a map is full of grass the player can change their
character to fit the map for example using a character which suits the visual map. For the
characters I wanted to have one main character which is throughout the storyline for the
game because I think the gamers will get a connection more. The appearance of a character,
but also the behaviour of the character. Games like Call of duty all allow the player to
choose the path of their characters development. This obviously presents an enormous
amount of narrative potential. If characters have a big part of any narrative can be made by
the player with creative freedom, the player is in control of their artistic experience in a way
nothing else can match. So I think that I will have the character taken on a journey with the
storyline. Also the environment of the game will be very different on the maps because I
have different maps that have a scenery.

Conclusion
After doing all of the research and developing the game in this document I think that I have
all the necessary components to create a successful game. Although I know a lot of games
are out there that are very similar to mine, however I think that mine will be unique because
of the movement of the characters and the journey I have implemented in the storyline.
With me creating the character I think that the character will be very successful with the
gamers because it is near to real life situations when someone is called up to join the army.
Overall I think that the game will be a big hit for the gamers because with gaming becoming
a really big enterprise and the competitive scene on the rise I have made sure that I include
the capability for the gamers to compete at events using my game. I also havent targeted
my game at one point of audience so therefore anyone above 18 can play the game and
hopefully enjoy it. The gameplay of the game will be one of the most important parts of the
game because Gameplay is all about making choices and in a poorly-balanced game, many
of the choices available to the player are essentially rendered useless. And this, in a nutshell,
is why game balance is so important -- it preserves your game elements from irrelevance. In
an imbalanced game, one or more "dominant strategies" quickly emerge, limiting other
strategies useless except for some un-intended purpose, balancing your game because you
want to preserve your game's choices, and you want your game to be fair. This is true for a
multiplayer game or a single player game, but there are some differences. As an example,
consider a first-person-view shooting video game where you have limited ammunition. After
making sure that the gameplay and other aspects of the game is covered I think that my
game will be very successful.
