Puzzle Project

Advanced Drawing and Design

Maria Wass, B4

INTRODUCTION
This project was assigned to us by Mr. Larson. We were each instructed to
create our own puzzle, whether it be new or based off one found online. After drawing
each piece in Inventor, we created orthographics for it, and eventually, an assembly. My
project was a 12 piece snowflake puzzle based off a bamboo puzzle that I found online.

DESCRIPTION
In this assembly, 10 of these pieces were the same. Only two are different: the
negative slope piece on top and the positive slope piece on the bottom. However, they
have different files because I drew them differently so that way it would be easy to
assemble in Inventor. The orthographics are below, with an isometric of the assembly
above in gray, then another image of the isometric next to it with each file in a separate
color. As you can see, the four middle pieces are based off the same file.

CONCLUSION
This project, while functional on Inventor, when we 3d printed, it was printed so
precisely that it is impossible to assemble without sanding down some of the pieces. For
future projects, it is recommended that you give a little bit of room on either side if you
want to be able to actually assemble it. My next project may be trying to assemble a 24-
burr project.
