EXPANDING LUMINOUS ENERGY FIELD
Creating Sacred Space by utilizing the light of the eighth chakra, above the head. The power of sacred
space is amplified many times when you expand this radiant orb and rest within it. The eighth chakra
resides inside the Luminous Energy Field, outside the physical body. It is that part of us that is always
one with God. When we expand it like a crystal dome, we can actually sit within it and shield ourselves
from the static of the world.

Invoke sacred space with the greatest respect. Holding sacred space is like holding the tone of a single
note. Your song must be true and crystalline for its quality to be pure.

When you are in the presence of a master shaman or a great spiritual teacher, you feel a difference in
the quality of the space. The energy is clean; there is magnetism in the room.

It requires all of our love and intent, as well as practice, to hold sacred space for more than a few
moments. With practice, though, it becomes effortless. The space sustains itself.

It is important to always close sacred space after you have completed your work.

Exercise:

1. Imagine your eighth chakra like a small radiant sun above your head.
2. Use your imagination to picture an orb the color of the rising sun.
3. Imagine its brilliance shimmering on the surface, rippling across it like waves, bathing you in
orange and yellows.
4. Bring your hands over your chest into prayer pose.
5. Slowly raise your hands, still in prayer pose, until they are above your head.
6. Sense your fingertips entering the globe of the eighth chakra.
7. Sense how this spinning sun yields and opens to you.
8. Very slowly, like a peacock opening its fan, expand the circumference of this brilliant orb to
envelop you by turning your palms outwards and extending your arms.
9. Bring your arms down until your hands touch the chair, and bask in the light of your eighth chakra.
10. Experience yourself within this luminous sphere. Sense the quiet and stillness that pervades this
space.
11. Pay attention to your breathing. Follow your inhalation and then exhale slowly.
12. Explore the inside of this radiant orb with your awareness. What does the inner membrane feel
like? This is the vessel that houses your soul in between incarnations.
13. When you have explored this space to your satisfaction, with arms outstretched bring your hands
up slowly, like a peacock closing its fan, until you have gathered this luminous chakra again
above your head.
14. Feel it glowing.
15. Bring your hands again over your chest to prayer pose to conclude the exercise.

CLOSING SACRED SPACE:

1. Gather the luminous orb of your eighth chakra to its place above your head.
2. Release the spirits of serpent, jaguar, hummingbird, and eagle/condor.
3. Thank heaven and earth
4. When we do not close sacred space we contaminate it, like polluting a freshwater spring. He
archetypal animals no longer come to you, and the forces of nature stop responding to your call.
2
OPENING SACRED SPACE
1. Call-in the directions
2. Smudge or use a little scented water. Shamans accompany their prayers by fanning smouldering
sage or incense with a feather in the appropriate direction, blowing a few drops of scented water
toward the direction they are addressing, or holding their hand up to the sky and saluting each
cardinal point.
3. Begin by calling in the South.
4. Smudge or blow scented water to the South, then hold up your hand, palm facing out.
5. Recite the first verse, calling upon serpent.
6. Face each direction in turn as you repeat the process.
7. Touch the earth and look to the Heavens when directing your prayers there.
8. You close sacred space by thanking serpent, jaguar, hummingbird, and Eagle/Condor.
9. Release their energies and allow them to return to the four corners of the earth.
10. To connect with the energy if one of the directions, do not close that direction. Call on that
archetype to enter you and accompany you on your path. (Example: Turning to the east instead
of closing that direction, blow the spirit of that archetype into your clients or your, crown chakra
and imagine the spirit of eagle entering them or you- and informing their or your- lives)
11. Then thank Mother earth and Father Sky.

3
SACRED SPACES
1. Acknowledge the Four Directions when you do this you are engaging forces that create and
destroy. (Four Directions, Heaven & Earth).

2. Expand your Luminous Energy Field this connects us to the Noa Sphere (this is an distinctly
human sphere). It gives luminous Beings an opportunity to co-exist side-by-side with us and
intervene in our behalf.

The sacred space is opened by:

1. Reaching up into our eighth chakra (a luminous center that resides above the physical body
but within our LEF).

The eighth chakra resides above our heads and is called the soul center it is the energetic
structure of the soul.

2. Expand (arms up and outwards) into this radiant orb to envelop us. (In doing so we create
a micro universe in which we are outside of ordinary time).

Expanding the Luminous Energy Field

By creating a mirco-universe outside of ordinary time, we are able to step into infinity. We are able to
gain the guidance, wisdom and power of the Lineage of the Luminous Beings of the Archangels that
support us in our work.

Creating Sacred Space Opening

1. Hands in prayer position over the heart

2. Move arms (hands) upwards to above the crown chakra into the 8th chakra (feel the
energy of the soul vibration)
3. Turn hands inwards palms facing outwards, then spread out your hands / arms moving
downwards in your luminous field.
4. Continue expanding until you reach the heart once again and place your hands on the heart
chakra.
4
Creating Sacred Space Closing

1. Hands on heart chakra

2. Move hands / arms downward into the luminous energy field
3. Then begin to move them upwards into the 8th chakra
4. Once in the 8th chakra, bring your hands together and then move them down your central
channel to your heart chakra.
5. Place your hands on your heart.

PACHAMAMA

Touching Pachamama.
Simply touching the Pachamama will help to organize your energy in important ways. This is
particularly recommended after attending something like an academic conference, which puts holes in
your energetic body. The Qero usually have a hand on the ground while they are sitting on the
ground.

KARPAYS - TRANSMISSION RITES

The Karpay (rites) plant the seed of knowledge, the seed of Pachacuti, in the luminous body of the
recipient. It is up to each person to water and tend the seed so that it can grow and blossom. The rites
are a transmission of potential; one must then make oneself available to destiny. The Karpays connect
the person to an ancient lineage of knowledge and power that cannot be accessed by the individual.
Ultimately, this power can provide the impetus for one to leap into the body of an Inca, a Luminous
One. That person is connected directly to the stars, the Incan Sun of cosmology. The Q'ero believe
that the doorways between the worlds are opening again. Holes in time that we can step through and
beyond, where we can explore our human capabilities. Regaining our luminous nature is a possibility
today for all who dare to take the leap.
The training of the Earthkeepers has an energetic component, a series of initiations that help us to
develop a new architecture in our luminous energy field. The rites anchor each of the critical junctures
in the process of becoming homo luminous. These rites are the sum total of attunements that we go
through as we transit from the body of a human to the body of angels.
These rites were first given to ancient teachers by angelic beings, and now are passed on from
teacher to student. When an Earthkeeper gifts the Munay-Ki to a student, it is the lineage of luminous
beings that transmits itself, that leaps from the head of the master to the student as they lean into
each other and touch, forehead to forehead. To transfer this energetic information, the Earthkeeper
simply maintains sacred space and embodies the vibration of the level she wants to transmit. While
you cant undergo these initiations on your own, once you receive them, the rites are yours to transmit
to others as you wish.

Each of us has a bubble of energy, or

Poqpo, which surrounds us, ranging from
the top of our heads to just below our feet,
including a small part of the ground
underneath us. Our bubbles are filled with
the energy that we attract, create or allow
into our personal spaces. Andean spirituality
does not interpret happenings, feelings or
energies as either good/ bad or
positive/negative. What is perceived is either
light energy (Sami) or heavy energy
(Hucha). Many of the practices and
ceremonies are centered on learning to fill
our bubbles with Sami from the higher
realms and releasing the Hucha to the lower
realms. Once a person is initiated into this
work and has the ability to fill their bubbles
with light energy they are also obligated to
help others release their heavy energy.

6
THE NINE RITES
Foundation Rites
1. Healer Rite
Connects you to a lineage of luminous beings; awakens the healer within you.
2. Band of Power
Five luminous belts that are woven into the luminous energy field for protection.
3. Harmony Rite
Transmission of the seven Archetypes into the chakras. Helps you combust the psychic sludge
that builds up in your chakras, so that your chakras can shine with their original light as you
acquire a rainbow body.
4. Seer Rite
Extra-cerebral pathways of light are installed that connect the visual cortex with the third eye
and the heart chakra. This awakens your ability to perceive the invisible world of energy and
spirit.
Vibration of Angels and Archangels Rites
5. Daykeeper Rite
Connects you to a lineage of master healers from the past. This rite helps you begin to heal
your inner feminine, step beyond fear, and practice peace.
6. Wisdomkeeper Rite
Connects you to lineage of luminous beings from the past and the future. This rite helps you to
begin to heal your inner masculine, step outside of time, become steeped in the medicine
teachings and taste infinity.
7. Earthkeeper Rite
Connects you to a lineage of archangels that are guardians of our galaxy. It helps you learn the
ways of the seer and to dream the world into being.
8. Starkeeper Rite
This rite anchors you safely to the time after the great change; physical body begins to evolve
into homo luminous.
9. Creator Rite
Awakens the Creator-light within and brings forth a sense of stewardship for all creation, from
the smallest grain of sand to the largest cluster of galaxies in the universe.

Alberto Villoldo, emphasized over and over again that when you unite your vision with your
intent, the universe will ACTIVELY conspire with you. "Miracles happen when you work in the
domain of the sacred."

THE SOURCES OF THE RITES OF THE MUNAY-KI

Rites of passage and initiation have been practiced for millennia by all peoples in the Earth. The rites
of the Munay-Ki are based on initiatory practices of the Inka and pre-Inka shamans of the Andes and
the Amazon.
The Healers Rite is known as the Hampe blessing and comes from the highland Qero people.
The Bands of Power were transmitted by Juan Victor Nuez del Prado, a friend and colleague,
whose father was one of the original discoverers of the Qero nation.
The Harmony Rite comes from the lowland Qero, the Huachipayre people from the edge of the
Amazon. I learned it from don Alejandro Cahuanchi, a renowned healer.
The Seers Rite is practiced in many different forms among the North Coast peoples of Peru, (the
descendants of the Chimu and Moche cultures), and by the seers and trackers of the Amazon.
The Daykeepers Rite is known among the Qero as the Pampamesayok, referring to the lowlands
and valleys of the pampa, and to the mesa or altar.
The Wisdomkeepers Rite is known among the Qero as the Altomesayok rite, referring to the high
mountains of the Andes. Don Manuel Quispe was the last great Altomesayok of Qero.
The Earthkeepers Rite is known among the Qero as the Kurak Akuyek rite, referring to the elder who
masticates the wisdom to nurture the young ones who follow.
The Starkeepers Rite is known as the Mosoq Karpay, which means the new rite in the Qechua
language. This rite announces and prepares one for the time to come. The structure of Inka
cosmology goes from the Earth (Pachamama) to the Mountains (Apu) to the Stars.
The Creator Rites are known as the Taitanchis rite. The word Taitanchis literally translates as God.

___________________________________________________________

These rites are not only stages of initiation, but perhaps steps for the evolution of humanity. As
nations fight for bits of territory and battle over land, we must find the wisdom to create peace among
all peoples. As our space telescopes show us images of a vast and immeasurable Universe, we must
find a human story that is inclusive of the stars. And as our ability to destroy the world increases, we
are called to step up to the task of assuming stewardship for all creation.
In essence, the rites are about stewardship. They are not ego-awards or recognition of any kind of
achievement, nor do they make anyone special. On the contrary, they make one uniquely unimportant.
Only then, from a position of no-ego, can we truly be of service.

During their visits to the USA, the Inka pointed out that the rites were not for us individually; they were
for others, to be shared. It has been my experience that they do not blossom unless we give them
away with great Munay, with love.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MUNAY-KI

What can I expect to experience as I receive the Munay Ki rites?

These rites are the rites of the shamans path of the descendants of the Inka, the indigenous peoples
of the holy mountains of the Andes in Peru. The rites are received as seeds in the energetic
architecture of the luminous body that surrounds the physical body. The more free the luminous field is
from the dense energy of past wounding and trauma, tension and disease, the more rapidly the seeds
of the rites will grow.
As we integrate the rites into our luminous architecture, our awareness of the areas where we are
most in need of healing may become more evident. Our healing journey will accelerate. As the gifts of
the rites are developed, every action and interaction will be informed by them. If we step away from
alignment with our newly-organizing self, the rites of the Munay Ki will quickly reflect reminders in our
day to day experience to return to right relationship.

I understand that if I receive the rites, I am invited to gift them to otherswhat

does this mean?

Traditionally, initiates work with an elder for many years in sacred study before and between receiving
rites of passage. However, we now stand at a time of quickening, a critical juncture of human history.
One of the reasons that these rites have been translated into an essential, silent form is so that these
rites can be transmitted and replicated easily from person to person. This is with the blessing of the
elders of the Qero nation, the descendants of the Inka whose are the keepers of these rites.
It is hoped that these rites be transmitted to as many individuals as possible now and in the coming
times. While it is not a requirement for receiving the rites, it is asked that once you receive them that
you strongly consider passing these rites along to others in a way that is comfortable for you.
Like the concept of the hundredth monkey, as the rites mature in a core number of people on our
planet, others will be drawn along into this new consciousness. According to prophecy, we will then
witness the birth of a new form of human on the planet and the dawn of a new civilization. So it is a
really good idea to receive the rites with the intention of passing them on.

If I am just receiving the rites during this Munay Ki workshop, how will I know how to pass
them on? How can I be supported in my own healing work after the rites settle in?

At the conclusion of the Munay Ki workshop, you will receive a DVD that will guide you on how to
administer the rites to others. At the workshop you will be shown essential steps of creating sacred
space for yourself, and for your rites recipients when you offer them the rites.
Receiving the rites does not require that you receive further knowledge of the medicine ways of this
tradition or healing interventions to further your journey. However, these may be helpful or desired. If
so, you may make an appointment before, during or after receiving the rites with someone from
Energy Medicine Wellness, or any other healing tradition that serves your transformational process
well.

THE FOUNDATION RITES
When giving each rite, attune to the Munay-ki, the Laiki, the energy of the transmissions and
allow that energy to work through you.
The Healers Rite is known as the Hampe blessing and comes from the highland Qero people.
The First Rite Is the Healers Rite [In Quechua, the Hampe rites], which connects you to a lineage of
Earthkeepers from the past, they come and assist you in your personal healing. The Laika know that
we have tremendous spiritual assistance available to us. These luminous beings work on us during
our meditation and sleep time to heal the wounds of the past and of our ancestors.

PI STONE OR MEDICINE STONE
Pi or Medicine Stone is the gateway to the invisible world of the Earthkeepers and the Laika. It is a
hyper-dimensional access to invisible realms that the Laika and Earth keepers have access to as a
result of the nine initiations of Munay-ki.
The PI is a representation of the human luminous energy field. It is the luminous Energy Field that
surrounds and envelops the physical body and is the blueprint for our physical, emotional and spiritual
selves.
The Luminous Energy Field enters our Body thorough our feet and rises up through the core of the
body along the spine and out through the very top of our heads. Then comes down the width of our
out stretched arms, entering the earth for about a foot and rising up through our feet once again.
Thus, it creates a donut shaped luminous structure that contains, envelops and informs us.
The Pi stones are found throughout the Americas, vast quantities of them are in museums and no one
knows what they were used for.
The Laika know that they are portals or gateways, they also know that they are simply stones and that
you are the portal you are they gate way. When you become an access point to the hyper-
dimensional matrix of creation, your luminous energy field is unbound from time and you are no longer
the effects only of your past, nor the events that occurred to you when you were twelve, when you
were six, in a former life time, before you were born. You are the result of the future of your destiny
reaching back like a giant hand propelling you into your becoming.

12
BANDS OF POWER, RITE #2:
Many of the Rites are the same. Differences are in attuning and intent. Transmission does it
by itself.
The second rite consists of protections installed in your LEF. These are known as the Bands of
Power, and consist of five energetic bands representing earth, air, fire, water, and pure light. These
bands are installed in your Luminous energy field, and act as filters, breaking down into one of the five
elements any negative energies that come your way so that these energies can feed you instead of
making you toxic or ill.
The Bands of Power are always on, and negative energies bounce right off them [and go directly to
the earth where they belong and can be mulched]. In a world filled with fear, the bands provide
essential protection. [In review they are the black band around the first and second chakra
representing earth, the red band of water around the 3rd, the gold band of fire around the 4rth, the
silver band of wind around the 5th, the white band of pure spirit around the 6th.
Additionally each band has threads that go down into the ground under your feet and are
connected to the rainbow glacier and gold and silver rivers from the crown or 7th chakra, holy
snow-capped mountain, down the spine and around the tailbone. The rainbow fountain weaves
it all together and the rainbow bridge connects you to the upper world, the world of your
becoming that you source yourself from.]

Bands of Power
1. Protect against negative energies
2. Feed our Luminous energy field
3. Inform us
4. Connect us with earth and sky.

Colors of the bands:

1. Black band into sacral and base chakras, (element of earth)
2. Red into Solar Plexus (water of the mother)
3. Gold fire into the heart (fire)
4. Silver, moon, wind, into throat (air)
5. White Light of Spirit into the third eye
6. Beautiful Rainbow Of Light Flows out of the Crown chakra and which forms an orb
around the body it holds the colors of all chakras, and comes from the chakras
themselves, radiating their vibrant colors, which comes out of the top of the head. These
rainbow of colors releases / re-energizes and informs us.
These bands act as filters that break down into elements any negative energy that come your way so
that these energies can feed you instead of weighing you down. The installation also breaks up
shields used for defences when they are installed.
o Works well on bi-polar folks.
o Some folks have a negative reaction, which could include feeling very nauseas. It usually
happens right away and signals a fluid energy. Also usually related to the red band.

Each band has threads that go down into the ground under your feet and are connected to the
rainbow glacier and gold and silver rivers from the crown or 7th chakra, holy snow-capped
mountain, down the spine and around the tailbone. The rainbow fountain weaves it all together
and the rainbow bridge connects you to the upper world, the world of your becoming that you
source yourself from.]

13
BANDS OF POWER Rite #2
1. Place the pi stone on the crown chakra and lock it. (Press it in to crown)
2. Bring it down the back of the head making a black chord to the lowest part of the neck
(C7ish) - Lock it there.
3. Start and gold and silver band down the spine until you get near the tailbone, (When you
do this, gold and silver bands of light weave in and around the spine gold on right,
silver on left.) and then lock it.
4. Bring the cord down under and through their legs up to the first chakra and lock it in.
5. INSTALL BLACK BAND: At the same height as the first chakra create a black band that
goes around to the spine and lock it in the back. Bring it back around to the front, then go
around the other side to the spine and lock it. Then come back to the first chakra and
lock it.
6. Move up the front center from the 1st chakra to an area between the 2nd and 3rd charka
and lock it.
7. INSTALL RED BAND: Create a red band that goes around to the spine and lock it in the
back. Bring it back around to the front, then go around the other side to the spine and
lock it. Then come back to the front and lock it.
8. Move up the front to the 4th chakra and lock it.
9. INSTALL GOLD BAND: Create a gold band that goes around to the spine and lock it in
the back. Bring it back around to the front, then go around the other side to the spine and
lock it. Then come back to the front and lock it.
10. Move up to the 5th chakra and lock it.
11. INSTALL SILVER BAND: Create a silver band that goes around to the spine and lock it
in the back. Bring it back around to the front, then go around the other side to the spine
and lock it. Then come back to the front and lock it.
12. Move up the 6th chakra and lock it.
13. INSTALL WHITE BAND: Create a white band that goes around to the spine and lock it
in the back. Bring it back around to the front, then go around the other side to the spine
and lock it. Then come back to the front and lock it.
14. Move up to the crown chakra and lock it.
15. Expand out the rainbow fountain and bring it down around them
16. Go up, trace fountain of Light with hands 3xs.

INTENT: To install Luminous energy bands, wide, with color

Bands of Power provide luminous protection, which allow us to walk with grace and safety in the
world. They act as filters, breaking down into one of the five elements any negative energy that come
your way, so that these energies can feed you instead of making you toxic.
These Protection bands take two to three weeks to take. They provide body armouring. They are
luminous belts that are woven into your luminous matrix. They should be checked every year.

The belts are installed into the luminous energy field. These are five luminous belts that are
woven into the fabric of your luminous matrix.

1. Gold and Silver bands running down the back symbolize male and female energy.
2. Gold right, silver left.
3. You test the bands using muscle testing. When a band is weak it usually indicates an issue with
the chakra in the form of an archetype issue.

16
FEEDING THE BANDS OF POWER

The Bands of Power require very little maintenance or attention, but it can be helpful to remember
them from time to time and strengthen them with your intent and ritual. Hear is one suggestion:

First Band: 1st & 2nd Chakras

1. When you are working with earth, for example gardening or caring for your plants, or admiring
mountains or buildings, imagine some of that earth energy feeding your black band and you
can use your hands to ritually draw the energy toward the band around your 1st and 2nd
chakras.
Second Band: 3rd Chakra
2. Do the same for each band. When you are bathing or admiring an ocean, river, lake, snow or
rain, feed the red band around your 3rd chakra.
Third Band: 4th Chakra
3. When you are basking in the sun, draw some of the energy into the gold band around your 4th
chakra.
Fourth Band: 5th Chakra
4. When you are feeling a breeze or wind, or admiring a silvery moonlit night, allow some of it to
feed the silver band around your 5th chakra.
Fifth Band: 6th Chakra
5. When you are in a spiritual place such a church, temple, ashram, or meditating in front of your
own altar or in nature, allow some of that pure spirit energy to feed the white band around your
6th chakra.
Sixth Center: Crown Chakra - Rainbow Fountain:
6. When you are full of laughter and joy, allow some of that energy to feed the rainbow fountain
that weaves all of the bands and threads together.

You can strengthen the bands by:

1. Breathing practices
2. Fire ceremony
3. Identifying with the elements that
are aligned with that band when
you come across them like wind,
water,

17
FEEDING/STRENGTHENING THE BANDS OF POWER
You can activate your body's energy belts (or eyes of energy called 'nawis') using the natural elements
of sun, wind, water and earth. And harmonize the poq'po, or your human energy field, with the five
elements and the forces of nature, leading to a high state of personal energy, happiness, and
connection to life.

Connecting with plants using their element to strengthen the earth band

Every living being has chakras. Crickets have them, as do deer, squirrels and humans. Even trees
have chakras. The chakras in animals run along their spine, as they do in humans. A tree's chakras on
the other hand are mobile, as trees lack a spinal column.

1. You can scan the surface of a tree with your hands.

2. When you feel the tingling sensation that indicates the presence of a chakra, take a hold of it
with both of your hands (they are about the size of a basketball).
3. By gently nudging its chakra to align with the first band Earth, you can connect energetically
with the tree.

For the Shaman, the chakras extend luminous threads, or huaskas, that reach beyond the body,
connecting us to trees, the rivers, and the forests. Every living thing on Earth is composed of light.
Plants absorb light directly from the sun and turn it into life, and animals eat green plants that feed on
light, so that light is the fundamental building block of life. We are light bound into living matter.

We can use the light or fire, (energy from the sun), water or air that is within the plants, to also
feed the Heart Band.

The bands of power transmute negative toxic energies into the five elements
(earth, water, sun, air, spirit).

Chumpi (Choom-peeh) Belt.

In Andean mysticism this term also refers to the belts of living energy that surround the human body
and make up the human bubble or energy field.

You receive in ceremony the "Bands of Power" which are written into your auric field. These
Bands provide protection while performing shamanic services. It is said that Inka shaman can
see these bands and thus recognize one of their fellow light workers.

CHUMPI BELTS

The Chumpi Paqo is an individual who has been trained to perform the ceremony of delivering
the Chumpi (belts of energy) to another individual. The language of the Qero the descendants of
the Inka is Quechua. It is an oral language that has only recently been translated into a written format.
The Quechuan word Chumpi literally means belts; symbolically the belts have colors and certain
characteristics or properties. However, each belt is an energy source and a form of perception offered
by the Chumpi Paqo with a special set of stones called Chumpi Khuyas. There are five different
stones and five energy belts.
The five energy belts correspond to seven energy centers of the human body; they roughly
correspond to the seven major chakras. Each belt also contains an eye (nawi), which is a center of
perception that is activated by the Paqo's chumpi khuya. The advancement or development of the eye
of perception associated with the belt of energy is left to the discretion and responsibility of the
individual.

EACH BELT OF POWER IN THE ORDER THEY ARE RECEIVED IN THE CEREMONY.

1. The first energy belt is called Yana Wara, the color is black and corresponds to the base of
spine. The black belt is associated with water and the flow of our impulses.
2. The next is Puka chumpi, the color is red for the blood of mother earth, Pachamama. This
center is at our navel, which is called qosqo; it corresponds with the element of earth, and our
emotions.
3. The third center is the heart; the sonqo nawi (the heart eye) the belt is called Qori chumpi, the
gold belt. This belt is associated with the sun, Inti Tayta. The perceptual quality corresponds to
the feeling of love. The Quechan word for this kind of love is munay; love and beauty.
4. The throat center is next, with the Kunka nawi, the neck eye. The color of the belt is silver, the
Qolque Chumpi. This center is associated with the element of the moon (Killa), and the air or
wind. This center is about our perceptions of emotions and creativity.
5. The fifth chumpi, is comprised of three centers:
Our right eye, pana nawi, which is associated to the mystical side of tradition. It is
also about our communication to the spirit worlds and energetic connections.
The left eye, Lloque nawi is associated with the magical side of the tradition. This
center is about the practical application of the Andean healing arts and the use of
spiritual healing techniques and protocols.
The third part of this center is the area of the brow between our two physical eyes,
Qanchis nawi. The third eye is the visionary eye, the ability to see the true reality of
God. This belt of power is the Kulli chunpi, the color is violet.

The five chumpi, belts of power are activators of the seven centers and their corresponding eyes of
perception. As you may imagine, this initiation is powerful in removing our heavy energy that we have
acquired living in a cultural environment that supports the development of our soul within the
parameters of separateness from our life force.
The Quechuan word for this force is kawsay. This ceremonial ritual is an example of how an individual
can be reconnected to the living light energy of kawsay to experience vitality and love.

All of Alberto's students where taught that the Siki or black belt was earth. This is Alberto's
view. The traditional view is that the siki is connected to water because it can flow deep into the
earth, it is also our ability to go deep into our subconscious to find peace and stillness. The
belts themselves are part of the middle tradition (Chuapi) and are the tools of the Chumpi
Paqo. A very rear branch of the Andean Priesthood.

HARMONY RITES (ANYI CARPI) # 3 - ARCHETYPES INTO CHAKRAS
1. Serpent - shed the past
2. Jaguar connect with Mother earth and all her children
3. Hummingbird drink deep of life
4. Eagle spread our wings, vision and clarity
5. Keeper of the lower world harmony and order
6. Time to Come connect with who you will become, 10,000 years from now

Munay-ki brings this to a cellular level, we are Spirit or God, and there is no separation.

The third rite is the Harmony rites [In Quechua, the Ayni Karpay], in which you receive seven
archetypes into your chakras. In the first chakra, you receive the archetype of serpent; jaguar goes
into the second; hummingbird into the third; and eagle into the fourth. Then, three archangels go into
your upper three chakras. Huascar Inka, the keeper of the lower world and the unconscious is
transmitted into the fifth chakra; Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent God of the Americas, and keeper
of the middle world (our waking world) goes into the sixth; and Pachakuti, the protector of the upper
world (our super-conscious) and keeper of the time to come goes into the seventh chakra.
These archetypes are transmitted into your chakras as seeds. These seeds germinate with fire, and
you have to perform a number of fire meditations to awaken them and help them grow. Afterward, they
help combust the psychic sludge that has built up in your chakras, so that your chakras can shine with
their original light as you acquire a rainbow body. This rite helps you to shed your past the way the
serpent sheds her skin.

Here is a description of each of the archetypes. They are like friends that you can call on to
help you in any situation:

In the 1st chakra is serpent that we call on to shed heavy energies wounds and emotions from
others (over-empathy) and to fully engage with our core relationship to the earth. She helps us look at
situation as a matter of fact, without getting caught in the emotions, to remain cool and calm.

In the 2nd chakra is jaguar to help us disengage from any battles, to be fearless in knowing and
asking for what we truly desire and leaping into our chosen destiny. She can help us track in a very
sensitive and invisible way for what is truly going on with a person or situation. She can help us
reclaim our passion for life.

In the 3rd chakra is hummingbird to help us be appreciative and enjoy all the processes of life and
drink the nectar along the way, and to embark on the epic seemingly impossible journey of the creator
that we are. She helps us connect to our ancient wisdom and wisdom to come by being able to
master time, to step out of the grip of linear time. She helps us become unattached to what we
identify with and to specific outcomes, so that we have nothing left to defend and can simply enjoy the
sweetness of life from the perspective of the witness or creator.

In the 4rth chakra is condor/eagle to call on to look at the big picture and broadest perspective and
to keep the vision of what we want to create most in our lives, to dream our world into being and use
our feelings as guidance and a critical part of our asking, our prayer. Condor/eagle helps us to honor
our own heartfelt desires and know that we can manifest them with the grace of Great Spirit.

21
In the 5th chakra is Huascar, keeper or harmonizing principle of the lower world, the
subconscious, who helps us to go there and see what we truly are and what we truly want in life and
call back parts of us that we may be missing along with the passion and gifts that we receive and that
we then bring to the world (soul retrieval). We call on Huascar to help us determine our truest and
most subconscious being and to help us with our shadow work embracing and thus no longer
attracting those aspects of ourselves that we would rather not experience. The great paradox of what
you push against gets bigger, what you resist persists, and what you embrace disappears.

In the 6th chakra is Quetzoquatl, organizer of this world that helps us to pay our bills, keep our
appointments, maintain our relationships, health and well-being in daily life and general quality of life.
In other traditions this archetype is also known as Kokopelli, Kukulkan, Koni Raya and many others.
With the help of Quetzoquatl, we dont have to micromanage our life.

In the 7th Chakra is Pachakuti, organizer of the upper world, the keeper of possibilities who
helps us to dream a new and better world and life into being (the destiny retrieval). Pachakuti helps us
to call on our next evolution, to step out of linear time and recognize and change that which we would
like to change before it manifests.]

ARCHETYPES
The great archetypes of our tradition are organizing principles of the Universe. They are the forces
that we call to create sacred space and they are the Energy Beings that have been planted as seeds
in each of your chakras. It is important to remember that you have received them as seeds, they are
pure potential - it is your own engagement with them and your relationship with them that will grow
them into the powerful forces that inform your chakras in new ways. That is why you do the fire
ceremonies, to grow these seeds with fire. Take the two weeks after each fire ceremony to source
yourself from the archetype in each chakra, see your world from that perspective, so that you get your
own sense of connection to each archetype. Instead of being exclusively informed by our histories
and by our cultural prescriptions, these organizing principles of the Universe, begin to organize our
energy centers.
Serpent: Mother of the Waters; archetype of the healer throughout many cultures; the one who
teaches us to shed our personal past the way she sheds her skin -- primary life force, the one who
dives deep, deep - who knows the way into the deepest places inside of ourselves - the One who
walks with beauty on the belly of the Mother the One who knows the way back to the Garden, the
place of innocence.
Jaguar: Mother-Sister Jaguar who knows the way across the rainbow bridge to the world of mystery
the One who swallows the dying sun, teaching us to step beyond fear, violence and death. The
archetypal connection to the life force of the jungle, everything that is green; steward of the life force
Luminous Warrior who has no enemies in this world or the next represents the Life/Death principle
and renewal.
Ancient Ones and Hummingbird: The place of the ancestors, Grandmothers and Grandfathers,
ancient memories, ancient wisdom the Ones who have stepped outside of Time but slip through the
curtain to help us remember the ancient ways the way of the Hummingbird, who drinks directly from
the nectar of Life -- not built for flight yet undertakes and accomplishes the impossible journey.
Condor or Eagle: The great archetype of the East, the place of the rising Sun, the place of our
Becoming -- principle of seeing from high perspective, vision of clarity and beauty, the great wings of
the condor hold the heart, teaches us to see with the eyes of the heart the One who pushes us out
of the nest to spread our own wings so that we may always fly wing to wing with the Great Spirit.
22
Huascar: Lord of life; Lord of death. Historically, one of two sons of Pachakuti Inka (the Inka who
read the prophecy of bearded men with sticks that spoke with fire who would turn the world upside
down). Huascar was the keeper of the medicine teachings; he was killed by his brother who then
negotiated with the Spanish. He became the harmonizing principle of the Lower World the chaotic
dark place of all creative potential. He/she is the renewer of the Earth and our own personal need of
renewing our own earth, fields that are fallow, places that need aerating. The gift of Huascar is to
harmonize our relationship with our Shadow. The Keeper of the Lower World (our unconscious)

Quetzelcoatl: Lord of the morning/the dawn; the Day Bringer, Morning Star; -- Quetzel is a beautiful
jungle bird and coatl is serpent, reptile, a feathered, winged serpent that has acquired flight - the
organizer of the middle world, brought irrigation, medicine plants and stonework, walked the Americas,
brought stability, music, dance, flutes, drums - though it has been lost in our culture, we can call on it
individually, an animistic knowledge of the ways of the Earth - organizes your relationship with the
Middle World - when you come into relationship with Quetzlcoatl you don't have to micromanage your
life. The Keeper of the Middle World (our waking world).

Pachakuti: Historically, the Inka king who was given the prophecy that the world was turning over
(coming of the Spanish) the keeper of the possibilities, organizing principle of the Upper World; -
embodies the concept of circular time, stepping outside of linear time - makes time stand still - brings
order, heavenly order - coming into relationship with Pachakuti allows us to recognize what can be
changed and changing it before it is born. You must develop your own relationship with the archetypes
and your descriptions should come from your experience. The Protector of the Upper World (our
super conscious).

You must develop your own relationship with the archetypes and your descriptions should
come from your experience.

AYNI

In its purest form, think of ayni as breathing in deeply from the universe and breathing out completely.
The subtle awareness of receiving ayni on the in-breath and giving ayni on the out-breath opens the
channels to allow universal energy to flow freely through you.

Try the following exercise to directly experience ayni.

1. With a partner, connect with your breathing.

2. Then, take your time and connect with the essence of the very best within you.
3. When you have the feeling of this essence, stand back-to-back with your partner and interlace
your hands.
4. Make sure the back of your head, upper back, and sacrum are touching.
5. With your intent, as gentle as a whisper, send the energy of the best within you to your partner.
6. At the same time, with your intent, receive the best from your partner.
7. Much like an in-breath, you receive your partner, and like an out-breath, you give yourself to
your partner.

When our energy is ordered and cleansed, we can use our personal power to "push the kawsay" in
service to others.

Pushing the kawsay" is a cosmic game and is performed in the spirit of "pukllaq" or play.

1. Start with the self and then circle outward to larger and larger energy fields.
2. Various hucha cleansing techniques are used, including "hucha mikhuy" or eating hucha with
your spiritual stomach, the qosqo.
3. Always feed hucha to Pachamama who will return the energy to you as sami. This cleansing is
an act of intention.

STEPS IN AYNI
1. Access your energy body through your qosqo and practice your energy work at dawn and dusk
the hours of power as day shifts to night and vice versa.
2. Gather hucha and feed the Mother. She will reward your efforts with sami.
3. Several techniques for energy cleansing are presented in this section.
4. Let the Universe perform its magic, let Pachamama gestate your intentions and birth the
desires into manifestation by detaching from the outcome of your intentions.
5. Hold a space for the manifestation and trust in the wisdom of universal energies to know best
what you need for personal growth. Live with conscious fluidity in mystical union with the
kawsay.

25
AYNI KARPAY

In this ceremony or ritual, called the Ayni Karpay, you learn how to do a reciprocal exchange of
energies, which is a very important aspect of Andean cosmology.

As the Inca Shaman attains greater levels of knowledge and expertise, various initiation rites are
performed to mark these levels. The first is that of the ayni karpay, which is similar to that of an
apprentice shaman. In this phase, the shaman-to-be comes into a proper relationship with the natural
world. Up until this point, his experiences have been created, or informed by past or present life
traumatic events. He reacts automatically to each new circumstance because the imprints of these
past events have remained in his Luminous Energy Field and his chakras, waiting to be triggered.
Thus, he has no choice.

The rite of the ayni karpay installs archetypes into each chakra, which start to inform the life
experiences from a more neutral, objective position, so that the shaman can act from this new
position, not react because of past programming. Thus begins the path of service to the Earth Mother,
her kingdoms, and all of creation.

Kawsay is the vital living energy that animates the cosmos. One is taught to "push" the
kawsay; to manipulate the kawsay for the good of others.

1. Fix in your minds and 'bubbles' (aura or energy fields) the greatest experience of your lives.
2. When you have this experience firmly and energetically in your 'bubbles,' one at a time share
it with another.
3. We placed our hands atop of anothers head (crown) and transmit to him/her as much of these
energy-experiences as possible.
4. Then the one you are sharing with will place his hands on your heads and transmit his/her
energetic experience to you.

Ayni Karpay = a specific ceremony or ritual in which two initiates/priests exchange all of their power
and knowledge with each other, directly though their energy 'bubbles' (auras).

Becoming a person of knowledge on the shamanic path is also to become a person of power.
Being a person of power in this context is not the ego-driven external power that we see in the world.
Rather it is a person who demonstrates power from within, one who sources from the deep well of the
internal, from the natural world and from source. It is this place of internal power from where the
ability to heal self and another comes. The shaman learns to push the kawsay, or energy, in ways
that will bring about the desired result. Great responsibility comes with being a person of power who
pushes the kawsay.
When we open sacred space and invite the forces of the universe to come to our aid, what we think of
as miracles can happen.

SEERS RITE (KAWACH RITES) # 4
Next are the Seer rites [in Quechua, the Kawach rites]. This rite installs filaments of light extending
from your visual cortex in the back of your head to your third eye and heart chakras. This practice
awakens your ability to perceive the invisible world. Many of our students at the Healing the Light
Body School find that a few months after receiving the Seer rites, theyre able to perceive the world of
energy around them.
After Seers Rite we can see energy in the world around us. The Seer is the witness. The Seer
observes the world and in seeing creates it. Does not identify with issues, just observes. All the
moves are luminous threads. The transmissions are at the head through the heart.

SEERS RITE:
1) An external neurological pathway of light connecting the visual cortex with the third eye and heart
chakra. This awakens the "inner Seer" and your ability to perceive the invisible world.
2) The ability to see from your heart and third eye chakras.
3) You trade thinking for sensing.
4) Extends filaments of light from your cerebral cortex in the back of your brain to your third eye and
heart chakras.
5) Awakens your ability to perceive the invisible world
6) Allows to us to see the parts of us that we previously were unable to see.

After receiving the rites:

Each person can tap lines, visualize gold and silver while tapping to re-inform lines.
Do this daily or every two days.
Loving self with compassion gives ability to love others without being needy. (vs. giving so
others will love you.)

SEERS RITE # 4
1. Open sacred space.
2. Hands on shoulder
3. Place Pi stone on third eye and make a path back over the top of the head to the occipital area
(cerebral cortex) and lock the filament in place. Do it twice (or three times, whatever is
needed?) for the path.
4. Move Pi stone over crown (top of the head), down back of head to the occiput.
5. Hold the Pi stone on the occiput central spot, and then lift Pi to forehead chakra, while still
holding other hand on the occiput.
6. Move Pi half way between ears and crown chakra to the back of the head (like a cap) to the
occiput. Repeat that process for a path going around the side of the head to the left and to the
right. Do it twice (or three times?) for the path.
7. Move Pi above ears from forehead to occiput on each side. Repeat that process for a path
going around the side of the head to the left and to the right. Do it twice (or three times?) for the
path.
8. Move Pi on to heart chakra.
9. Move Pi to occiput and back to each side.
10. With the Pi Stone on the occipital area place your hand on the 3rd eye chakra and sourcing
from spirit run the light through the filaments to the occipital area from the 3rd eye Seers
initiation
11. Hold this position until you feel the transmissions are complete

27
12. With the Pi Stone on the occipital area place your hand on the heart chakra and sourcing from
spirit run the light through the filaments to the occipital area from the heart chakra. Seers
initiation
13. Keep holding this position until you feel the transmissions are complete
14. Close sacred space.

Step One - Put Pi stone on the third Step Two - Hold the Pi stone on
eye. Move over the crown (top of the the occiput, and then lift Pi to the
head), down back of head to the forehead chakra, while still holding
occiput. hand on occiput.

Step 3.
Move Pi half way between ears and crown chakra to the back
of the head (like a cap). Do on other side.
Move Pi above ears from forehead to occiput on each side.

The Seers rite is practiced in many different forms among the North Coast
peoples of Peru, (the descendants of the Chimu and Moche cultures), and by the
seers and trackers of the Amazon.

THE SHAMANS WAY OF SEEING THROUGH THE KAWAQ KARPAYS (THE SEER RITES):
Traditionally, shamans engage in perceptual shifts to gather information. Their fine tuned states of
awareness allow him or her to see reality in a different way. Non-ordinary reality, the domain outside
the visible, outside cultural imprints, or beyond the structure of traditional form is the source of
unbiased information.
The state of consciousness is more important than a particular technique(s) used in tracking
information or healing. The shaman possesses the ability for future sight; not just to see what is going
to happen in terms of future occurrences, but to be able to see the current condition and the healed
state. And to be able to transmit that information to the client in a way that he, also, glimpses into the
future healed state. The moment the state is identified, the body realigns and readjusts itself to
conform to the informational blueprint. The shaman assists looking into the future and destiny.
Frequently, that ability helps to look into ones future evolution and to accelerate the process of
growth.

THE SECOND ATTENTION EXERCISE ~ Alberto Villoldo * Shaman, Healer, Sage

The second attention practice is an eye movement exercise that seems to recalibrate our neural
networks. It resets our sensory coordinates to zero, so to speak, in less than thirty seconds.
Otherwise our sensory perception remains locked into the first attention, the tunnel vision of ordinary
reality.

In this exercise we will use the Second Attention practice to free our kinesthetic sense and perceive
the acupuncture meridians. Once you can feel energy, you can translate this sensation into an image
through synesthesia.

THE SECOND ATTENTION PRACTICE:

The second attention practice involves rotating your eyes with your eyelids shut, to clear the
perceptual screen.

1. Close your eyes and move them (without moving your head) from left to right, up to down,
upper left to lower right, and vice versa.
2. Now rotate your eyes in a big circle, left to right three times and then right to left three times.
3. Repeat once more, rotating your eyes in small circles, eyelids shut.
4. Bring your hands together in the prayer pose. (The ten acupuncture meridians run through the
body, passing through the hands and fingertips, and when we bring our hands together in a
prayer pose we balance the energies that flow through the acupuncture meridians.) Be sure
that there is a little space between the fingers of each a hand and that the finger-tips are
touching each other, index to index, thumb to thumb, and so forth. Your hands should be
resting gently on your chest.
5. Take a few deep breaths while holding your hands together.
6. Next, separate your hands and shake them vigorously from side to side for about thirty
seconds, relaxing and allowing them to become limp.
7. Bring your hands together again in the prayer pose.
8. Gradually separate your palms, keeping your fingertips together. Be aware of the feeling in your
hands.
9. Separate your hands slowly, remaining aware of your fingertips. Notice how you feel.
10. See how far you can separate your fingers and still maintain that tingling or electrical sensation.
11. Imagine that you can sense the luminous threads that connect your fingertips to each other.
Can you see them? These are the extensions of the acupuncture meridians.
12. Practice this a few times until you can sense your meridians with your hands twelve inches
apart. Notice which hand is more sensitive. Can you sense the energy better with your left or
your right fingertips?

32
THE SECOND AWARENESS EXERCISE (Used with Seers Rite) ~
Taken from Alberto Villoldos book Shaman, Healer, Sage

The second awareness allows you to perceive the stories contained within energy. You install fibres
of light along the scalp that relay information from the third eye to the visual cortex, where it can be
decoded and displayed in vibrant color. We add to that the information streaming in from the heart on
similar fibres of light. These extracerebral pathways convey emotional and spiritual insight. The third
eye registers facts, while the heart registers feelings. In this way, your seeing is tempered by
compassion. On its own, the third eye is cold and dispassionate. By itself, the heart gets gushy and
sentimental. Working together, the two become the healers most powerful sources of knowledge. It
is not a gift that only a select few are born with. The visual cortex is capable of envisioning anything.
More than that, it decodes the information, deciphering images laden with symbols and meaning.

The second awareness exercise:

1. Assume prayer pose and go through the Second Attention practice while taking deep breaths.
2. Next, with the fingertips of both hands tap the center of your chest at the level of your heart.
3. Tap the outline of an imaginary necklace of light going from your heart chakra to the back of
your skull, to the visual cortex.
4. Repeat this movement slowly and mindfully three or four times.
5. Next tap on your sixth chakra, on the center of your forehead.
6. Pat an imaginary band from your forehead to the base of the skull in the back of the head.
Follow a line just above each ear.
7. Repeat several times.
8. Now tap once again on your sixth chakra and follow a band along the top of your head (tapping
with both hands along the midline) to the base of the skull.
9. Imagine that you are placing a crown of light over your head.
10. As you visualize this crown and necklace, you install extracerebral pathways to the visual
cortex of the grain.
11. Visualize energy running through these pathways to activate them. You can visualize these
pathways as shimmering fibres and imagine a golden light streaming through them, slowly at
first, and then picking up speed and intensity until the entire network is pulsing with light. Your
luminous pathways may be readily installed and you may begin transmitting information right
away.

The Second Awareness cannot be achieved through trying, which is an act of the will and
belongs in the world of our ordinary (first) awareness. Energize the extracerebral pathways and let the
visual cortex of the brain do what it was designed to do.

It may take you several months of practice to develop this skill. Energize the luminous pathways from
your forehead and to your heart to the back of your head, to achieve reliable results.

Practice Steps:
1. Bring your hands into prayer pose.
2. Breath deeply.
3. Observe the energy streams as you move your fingers apart.
4. The focus on your client and perceive her luminous body.
5. Practice seeing the energy field around plants and animals.
6. Notice the filaments that extend from a pet to its owner, or from your houseplants to nature
and to your own LEF.

READING CHAKRAS

1. Do the Second Attention Exercise, shake your hands vigorously for a few seconds and bring them
to prayer position. Remain mindful of your breath.
2. Now bring the palms of your open hands about three inches below your navel, very close to your
skin.
3. Stay with your breath.
4. Imagine your chakras as funnels of energy, spinning just outside your skin like whirlpools of light.
The outer tip of the funnel lies three to four inches outside the body, while much of the length of
the chakra resides within the body.
5. Find the outer edge of the funnel of your third chakra. Sense its circumference and the energy
whirling within it.
6. Place a finger in a chakra and sense the energy it may feel like cool water swirling past your
fingertip.
7. Gradually bring your index finger into the chakra, going in toward the body. What does it feel like?
8. Bring your attention to the very tip of your finger and sense what you feel on the pad. Is it tingly,
soft or rough? This chakra is associated with the fight or flight response. When we experience fear
or danger, we immediately register it in this chakra.

These exercises will give you a sense of the texture and intensity of the energy
in the chakras.
9. While you explore your second chakra with the tip of your finger, recall when you last felt afraid.
Do you notice a difference in the feel and texture? The second chakra is the easiest to read, as it
is the seat of our passions and emotions, and holds a high charge.
10. Repeat this exercise with the first chakra.
11. Notice if the texture and density of these chakras changes when you recall a time when you felt
safe and protected, perhaps when you were young. Now recall a time when you did not feel safe,
or when you woke up with a nightmare. How is the energy different?
12. Now try sensing the third chakra.
13. Recall a time when you were acknowledged and recognized for an achievement. Does the
texture of the energy seem to change? Recall a time you felt ashamed.
14. Now move up to the Fourth chakra
15. Recall when you were in love, when you first met your spouse or partner.
16. Now recall a time when you felt abandoned or heartbroken.
17. Notice the changes in the quality of the energy.
18. Next try sensing the fifth chakra.
19. Recall a time when you experienced great inner peace, perhaps during meditation.
20. Now recall at time when you were not heard by a loved one.
21. How is the energy different?

THE DAYKEEPER RITES (ALTO MESAYOK) Rite #5
In Quechua, the Pampamesayoq rites * Lineage Rite

The fifth is the Daykeeper rites [in Quechua, the Pampamesayoq rites]. The Daykeepers were
the masters of the ancient stone altars found in sacred places throughout the world, from Stonehenge
to Machu Picchu. The Daykeeper is able to call on the power of these ancient altars to heal and bring
balance to the world. This rite is an energetic transmission that connects you to a lineage of Laikas
from the past.
According to lore, the Daykeepers call on the sun to rise each morning and set each evening, made
sure that humans were in harmony with mother earth, and onoured the ways of the feminine. The
Daykeepers were the midwives who attended births and deaths, as well as being the herbalists, or
curanderas. They were generally women, and were knowledgeable about the ways of the feminine
earth. This initiation begins the process of healing your inner feminine, and helps you to step beyond
fear and practice peace.
You connect to a lineage of luminous being from the past and the future. This rite is assocated with
the snow-capped mountains, perhaps a distant memory of our ancestors from the Himalayas. This rite
helps you to step outside of time, become steeped in the medicine teachings, and taste infinity.

WHY WE BUILD ALTARS

Different people build altars for different reasons. Some build them to honour their ancestors or
remember a friend. Some use these as a creative kind of therapy. They build altars to support them in
building a new life for themselves or to help them get through an illness or other challenges. Some
altars are built for support and others are for release.

Some people use altars as center points for meditation or ritual. Other people build altars, which are
artistic or activist in nature. Some altars are memorial, while others are subversive. Some altars are
built to honour deities, and some to honour self. Some altars are built at demonstrations, events and
marches and can take on a very political tone. Some are built in natural areas to celebrate and
connect with Gaia, and these contain nothing foreign to that space.

Some altars are meant to last the length of a ritual or holiday season, while others are with us for
years. An altar is not merely a construct on a high, square, flat table. Some altars are small and fit into
our closet. Some altars are large. Some are round and some have several levels. Some altars are
built indoors and others can only exist outdoors. Some are in temples and some are in trees. Some
altars are so large that we can stand within them. They are not only a part of sacred space, they
actually are sacred space itself. Some of these installations become a kind of shrine.

A WEALTH OF POSSIBILITY AND PURPOSE

When you build you altar, let your mind open up to the possibilities it offers. Your altar can be just a
few pieces on a window ledge and even a simple stone on your desk. Or it can take up a large space
in your home or backyard. It's up to you.

The first step in building any altar is deciding its purpose. Once you know that, you can take it from
there. Building altars can be a sacred, spiritual, emotional, creative or philosophical process
depending on your need and intent. If you wish, it can be all of those things.

When we build altars we embark on both a personal journey and a quest. Please remember to stay
present and aware. Let yourself enjoy the act of building and tending to your altar, as much as you
enjoy the end result.

The altar is a principle part of shamanism, ritual, and daily life. We do not feel quite
right when our altar is not set up and functional every day. If you have not set up a
sacred space in your home with an altar in it, you may want to give it a try. We think you
will find that the energy of your entire home environment will be affected for the better!
Your altar does not have to be big. It does not have to be complex. It does serve you
well, however, to have the essential things upon it to make it effective in that which it
was designed. Here are some things to consider when planning your altar.
Think about how big you want your home altar to be. Ritual altars are for a more specific
purpose than the home altar. There will be many things in common between the two;
however, they are different in a few things. If your altar table is not very big, or your
space is small, you will not want a complex altar, for lack of room in which to place
things. In that, you may want to consider just the bare essentials.

RITUAL ALTERS
~ Arnell Ando

Ritual Altars contain objects placed for specific intent, which have deliberate symbolism. An Alter
created thoughtfully enhances the ritual's meaning for the individual (or group). It heightens the
sacredness and power of the ritual, while increasing transformative effects. Often times we have
treasures all over our home; such as favourite rocks and stones, seashells, feathers and candles. It
can be much more powerful and focusing to bring these energies together in one setting. Many times
when they are scattered around the house, we also sense our own energy as scattered in our lives.

The most basic symbolism for an Alter is the four elements combined with Spirit. The elements are;
fire, water, air and earth. Spirit; the fifth element, is the life force that animates all that is living.

The symbol for the element fire, is usually represented by a candle. Candles come in many colors,
each having a specific attribute. But in the beginning it might be best to use white or natural colored
bees wax tapers. Fire represents creative energy, inspiration, strong will and sexuality. It is
traditionally associated with Yang energy.

Water is most often symbolized by a chalice or cup, (which also is a metaphor for nourishing
breasts). Seashells can also be used to represent water. This element signifies emotions, intuition,
healing and reflecting, and it is associated with Yin energy.

For the element of air, one might use natural incense, white sage, feathers, a bird image, or even a
writing implement; for air represents knowledge and powers of the mind. It is also a symbol of courage
and is related to masculine energy.

Earth symbols that can be placed on an alter might be flowers, crystals or stones, a potted plant or a
land animal image. It is associated with nature, feeling 'grounded', security and material well-being
and carries feminine energy.

Everyone seems to have their own, understanding of 'Spirit'. (Peruvian Spirit is rainbow,
integration of all the spirit bodies and directions) Simply stated, it is about the life force 'be'-ing,
and the renewal ~ rebirth cycle. In traditional craft, it's symbol is often the caldron, which signifies the
emergence from the womb and transformation. Other symbols of spirit can be (for example) a mirror,
crystal ball, a picture of an ancestor, or even a butterfly; for these are all metaphors for the soul or
spirit.

It's a good idea to place the objects so the elements correspond with their directions, or in a
circle with spirit in the center. The four directions would be: fireSouth (Peruvian South is
Earth); lower right corner, water-- West; upper left corner, airEast (Peruvian East is Fire); upper
right corner, and earth North (Peruvian North is Air); in the lower left corner with spirit (Peruvian
Spirit is Rainbow) above center of these four directions thereby completing a star shape pattern (or
if you prefer, placed in the center of these four corners.)

These five symbols placed on an alter cloth (which protects the boundaries) become an Alter,
although one could keep it as simple or make it as elaborate or creative as so inspired. You can use
the occasion of dedicating a new altar to a specific Spiritual path, spirit guide, intent, or to rededicate
yourself, if this feels right to you and/or the group.

44
BUILDING YOUR ALTAR:
Building and working with altars is an ongoing creative process. It does not have to be a one-time
event.
If you are having trouble finding the "right" things for your altar don't worry, they will come to you. Most
of the things earth-wise folks put on their altars do not come out of catalogs. They come to us as gifts,
wildcrafted treasures, serendipitous finds, things we make, etc.
If you want items for your altar and you work with deity or energy, then ask that source to send you
things that are meaningful and that fit into your budget.

ALTARS - ALTER US
Among many wise teachings is this one: Change the inside, and we change the outside, as well.
Building altars will help us tap into our creativity, our dreams and our will. It will make us face our
fears, as well as our desires. It will change something on the inside, and that will manifest as a life
change, as well.

INKAN MESA OR ALTER

The Shamans Altar or Mesa is the living embodiment of the shaman's journey through the Medicine
Path. In the beginning the mesa is informed by the personal process of healing and becomes a source
of power, compassion and an instrument for healing. During the shamans journey the mesa becomes
a pathway of creation itself. A strong mesa is the witness of the shamans healing and is the aperture
for the shaman to return back to the universe. Then the mesa has the presence and imprints of
essential organizing principles of nature and is a portal for spirit to show up. The Shaman calls the
spirit of the mountain by activating an energetic connection that brings the presence of the spirit in our
focus of reality.

The mesa allows the shaman to step beyond death, to step outside of time and to journey through
time and space. It opens the way of the visionary, the seer. The shaman is able to track time lines and
design infinity. With the mesa the shaman dreams the world into being, the world of our children and
their children. Envisioning the mythology and emerging of a totally new world.

PACHAMAMA

The belief in Pachamama, the Earth Mother, lives on today. Pachamama provides all the necessities
of life, from food to housing. The past resides with her, the present is acted out upon her, and the
future will be born from her. She controls life while also harbouring the dead and their spirits.
Pachamama dies every year during Easter week. For seven days she has no control over the evil
spirits that inhabit the countryside, and the world becomes a place of danger. For the campesino,
Pachamama lives not as a legend or folktale, but as a very real being. She is the earth and force
around which all life must be ordered. Offerings are presented to her, and days set aside to worship
her.

In many South American countries the Earth Mother is given the name Pacha Mama. 'Pacha' means
Earth, Infinity, the Divine and the Sacred. Pacha Mama is therefore the Earth Mother, or the Divine in
material form. The Earth Mother is a living, Cosmic Being and has a physical, astral and spiritual
body. All matter as we know it comes from her and returns to her. Pacha Mama is much more than
our nurturer, she is our true spiritual Mother and holds all the secrets of the Universe within her.
With the help of her Tutelary Gods, or guardian spirits, she can point the spiritual seeker towards the
truth. As a living Being, the Earth needs us to look after her, feed and love her with our hearts open to
her. We are living in dangerous times as we seem to have forgotten how to contact her

A CONSTANT PRESENCE

The Inca culture has always been very linked to the Earth - there is a saying that 'wisdom comes
through the soles of our feet.'

The Earth sustains us, suffers, has emotions, she needs us to love her. We say we want to heal
her, but instead we just carry on poisoning her with our pollution. Her rivers need to flow. they are her
veins. veins she is deperately trying to clean out with all the rain that has been falling. Her mountains
are her shoulders. her forests are her lungs. The hole in the ozone layer is a hole in her aura, and the
greenhouse effect which is raising her temperature is because she is ill and running a fever.

When the Earth is ill, then we are too; because we are like cells on her body, we need to heal
ourselves in order to help to her heal. When we start to heal and purify ourselves, then we can begin
to be in more direct contact with the Earth, her energies and the power of Nature.

The Earth is a constant presence in our lives: when we walk through beautiful countryside; when
we watch a bird in flight; when we hear the sound of a waterfall or the crashing waves of the sea;
when we see a kind action, watch animals looking after their young, or wonder how a plant knows to
grow from its seed into a beautiful flower.

The Earth is always nurturing, forgiving, constant - she mirrors the Universe. The Incas look for
all knowledge in the Earth because she is what we are made of - the sky is too far away.

__
48
APUS

Pachamama resides in all places, but 'apus' are earth spirits that inhabit particular locations. Any
natural formation, such as a stream, a lake, or a hill, can be an apu's home. Local apus in the hills and
streams near a village provide daily protection for the people's crops and animals. Apus that inhabit
small peaks control the fertility of fields, while the greatest apus living at the tops of mountain peaks,
control animal fertility.

Apus are all-powerful gods; ambivalent beings, apus can be beneficent by performing
miracles, or malevolent by punishing the disrespectful. Because of their immense powers, apus
are greatly feared and respected. Even today people assemble to call upon apus to cure ailments and
solve life's problems.

EARTH GUARDIANS

When we enter into direct contact with earth energies we encounter what the Incas call 'Apus'. The
Earth herself is benevolent. It is the Apus who defend her. Every place has an Apu or teacher spirit.
Some people might call them guardian angels.

The Apus guard the Earth and when each one of us is born the Apu of that place takes reponsibility for
our development. If you lose contact with your Apu, it abandons you and if you lose contact with your
Apu you lose contact with the Earth. Apus act as intermediaries between humans and the Earth. The
Inca shamanic tradition works with these spirits on a day-to-day basis, for guidance, the resolution of
disputes and, most importantly, with healing.
Women are said to reflect the Cosmic Mother and carry within them the sacred fires that hold the
knowledge and mysteries of the Earth. The Incas believe that women can work more intuitively with
the Earth because their hearts are more open. Humanity as a whole is suffering from a lack of heart,
yet it is not possible to understand the mysteries of the Earth by adopting a scientific or "macho'
approach.

We need to rediscover the mysteries of women's traditions. To honour the qualities assosciated with
women, is to honour the Earth. To honour the Earth Mother we need to honour our own mothers, even
if they behaved badly towards us. We need to go beyond their limitations as a human beings and
acknowledge that they carried us in their wombs.

__

49
WAYS OF HONOURING
So what can we do?
1. The Earth and the Apus need to be fed and remembered by us. We can give thanks for our
food before we eat and by blowing on it, offer some of its essence back to the spirits. We can
look after our bodies with exercise and good nutrition and learn to be relaxed and detached in
all situations.
2. Meditation is the heart of wisdom. Five minutes a day will teach you more than hours of
reading. The Inca path is well-balanced between mysticism and materialism, an Inca warrior is
of this world, not apart from it.
3. Through being on the Earth we can learn patience, strength and perseverance. Become
aware of any fears that you might have and learn to face them, as fear will block the gateway to
knowledge. Dare to overcome your fears and become a warrior for the Earth, we are here to
learn, to open our hearts and heal ourselves. Only then will we be able to help our Cosmic
Mother, so let's go for it. NOW.

MEDITATIONS
Many of the meditations in the Andes involve interacting with elements of nature (e.g. the
earth, a river, a tree) with specific therapeutic outcomes in mind. The actual process for
connecting with nature--for example a river--was translated as 'blending your spirit with the spirit of the
river'. The way to accomplish this blending is through 'intent'. Several different definitions are possible
for the term, a useful one is to think of 'intent' as 'sincere pretending'. Through this process of 'sincere
pretending' subjectively real experiences emerge. After experiencing the meditations for a period of
time I found that the 'pretending' aspect began to recede in favour of an experiential understanding of
'intent' and how to evoke it.

The selection of which element of nature with which to connect depends upon the type of
effect that is desired.

1. Sitting quietly on the bank of a river you can connect your spirit with that of the river and have
your worries, neuroses, and various other problems be gently washed downstream.
2. You can sit with your back against a tree and connect with it to learn how to work with vertical
(transcendent) energy, and how to keep rooted while reaching for the stars.
3. You can stand in the wind and can ask it to help you expand your consciousness.
4. As the sun rises in the morning you can ask it to help you focus and mobilize your energy for
the tasks you face during the day, while at sunset it can help you diffuse your energy in
preparation for entering the mysteries of the evening (the unconscious and dream time).

APUS Connecting With In Meditation

Specific to the Andean geography are the 'Apus', the great spiritual beings who are the major
mountain peaks in the area around Cuzco. The Apus evolve spiritually, and when they do they
grow an inch during the night. Consequently, high mountain peaks are some of the greatest
spiritual beings on the planet.
It is possible to connect your spirit with the Apus, with the effect depending upon the nature
and role in the Cosmos of that particular Apu (e.g. one Apu creates order out of the energy of
the universe while a different Apu rips that order apart).

__

50
'PACHAMAMA', THE GREAT MOTHER WHO IS THE PLANET EARTH

1. A simple meditation for beginning an exploration of these processes is to find an appropriate

place to sit on the earth, and then just experience sitting in the lap of the Pachamama, the way
a child experiences sitting in the lap of a perfectly loving and nourishing mother.
2. Another meditation is to lie on the ground, bare your navel to the earth, and then give the
Pachamama all of your problems and worries, or ask her to give you what you need to solve
your problems within yourself.
3. These simple processes can lead to peaceful and supportive experiences.

________

DESPACHOS

Relationships are bi-directional, and thus within this approach there is a corresponding responsibility
for humans to reciprocate the love and nourishment offered by nature. All of the ceremonies I attended
in the Andes involved 'despachos', offerings made to various aspects of nature, particularly the
Pachamama. These offerings are not payments or bribes to nature for favours granted or requested;
they are instead a nourishing of a relationship, as a lover gives flowers to a beloved. This has, in turn,
evoked within me and many others involved in this project a greater desire to support the health and
well-being of all of nature, not as a moral obligation but as a natural act of caring for a loved one.

BENEFITS OF CONNECTING WIITH NATURE

In addition to the benefits of calling upon specific aspects of geography for specific therapeutic effects,
another level of benefit arises from the general relationship with nature that is engendered by these
processes. All of these meditations presuppose that nature can and will support and nourish us;

1. The earth will absorb our problems

2. The river will take away our anxieties
3. The wind will expand our consciousnesses
4. A tree will help us become enlightened.
5. This can evoke a strong sense of validation and support for our existence, as children of
nature, compared to what we may experience as children of Western society. This, in turn, can
assuage issues of purpose, meaning, belonging, and connection to life.

______

APUS is generally considered male nature energies, except for a few aberrant females like Mama
Simona in Cuzco, Veronica in the Sacred Valley, and Putukusi in Machu Pijchu.

APU (AH-POOH) LORD. MOUNTAIN SPIRIT. The tutelary nature deity of a village or region,
inhabiting the peaks of the highest Mountain.

APACHEKTA (AH-PAH CHEK-TAH) An ancient prayer of thanks spoken upon arrival at the top of a
mountain, meaning roughly, lord surely you must have carried me.

The eighth is the Starkeeper rite [in Quechua, the Maillku or Mosok Karpay rites]. This rite anchors
you safely to the time after the great change that is said will occur on or around the year 2012.
According to lore, when you receive this rite, your physical body begins to evolve into that of Homo
luminous. The aging process is slowed down, and you become resistant to diseases you were once
vulnerable to. When you receive these rites, you acquire stewardship of the time to come and all
future generations. Your physical body begins to evolve into Home Luminous, the aging process is
slowed down, your DNA is re-informed, and you become more resistance to disease. Aging process
slows. Acquire stewardship of time to come and all succeeding generations. Awaken Christ and

Wiracocha: The luminous or energy body called the Wiracocha, (weedacocha), is informed by nature, the
wind, lightning, rain, trees, sun, moon and stars. The Wiracocha in turn informs the physical body and carries or
encodes the template of our health, how we live and how we die. You reach into the Wiracocha when
transmitting this rite Bring light down from your Wirococha into the chakras of the person.

1. Protg lies down to receive transmissions

2. Open sacred space
3. Bring light down from your Wirococha into the chakras of the person. Raise your (the hand that
is closest to the lower chakras) hand to heaven; other hand is on the heart.
4. * Using the hand that is closest to the lower chakras send the transmissions to protg,
keeping the other hand on your heart chakra. When done, take your hand that was giving the
transmission and raise it up into the Soul Essence (Wiracocha).

Martial artists are trained to direct their chi energy in certain ways to benefit them if they ever have a
physical confrontation with someone. Keeping the chi energy going in the easiest, shortest path,
without crossing the body will ensure more focus and more power. The short easy path, without
crossing the body allows the chi energy to flow more freely. When you do the Starkeeper rite in the
Munay-ki, I believe when giving the rite, it is beneficial to match up the chakras of the person you are
giving the rite to with the side of the body of the person giving the rite. The flow of the chi energy flows
easier and smoother. E.g.: The person getting the Starkeeper rite is laying down, head facing south
and feet facing north. The person giving the rite is on the west side of person lying down. The left hand
would do the bottom chakras, the right hand would do the upper chakras. ~ Brian Perpelitz

CREATOR RITE (TETONCHE) Rite #9

The ninth is the Creator rite [in Quechua, the Taitanchis Ranti rites]. When you receive this initiation,
you awaken the God-light within you acquire stewardship for all of creation, from the smallest grain of
sand to the largest cluster of galaxies in the universe. This rite has never been available before on the
planet. Although there were individuals who attained this level of initiation, and awakened their Christ
or Buddha consciousness, it was never possible to transmit these from one person to another, until
today. So while Spirit-to-human transmission happened on occasion, human-to-human transmission
was impossible until now. The Creator rite was brought forth and gifted to us by Inka elders in the
Andes during the summer of 2006.
Awaken God nature, acquire stewardship for all creation. There were people who had this but no
transmission possible. Spirit to human possible, human to human not before this time.
