Chiefs, Crusaders bring economic benefits
The staging of the second Super Rugby fixture in Fiji ce-
ments the prospect of the match now annually being held in
the country.
The government of the day beginning last year contributed
$2.3million to cover team costs, accommodation and local
travel costs.
And the two-top teams from the New Zealand Conference,
the Gallagher Chiefs and the BNZ Crusaders loved every bit of
it coming out of their comfort zones.
In-fact the Chiefs who we should be thankful to in bringing
their home match from Hamilton to the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
The head of government, Voreqe Bainimarama had said rug-

during the two matches so far a record crowd of close to 17,000
converging to the Laucala Bowl to witness for themselves top
class rugby.
He said Fiji was only one of eight nations to have hosted the
competition and the first small island state to do so, meaning it
was a major feat for the Pacific.
We love our rugby and that is why we want it played here in
Fiji, Bainimarama said.
The match has the potential to be seen by as many as half a

The side edged Islands Electric 13-10 in the final to walk

But it all began in the quarterfinal when superb bowling
skills and good fortune favored them on their way to claim

they were down 12-17 heading to the last end to win by the

Team captain Zainal thanked his team mates for a brilliant
performance. He also thanked their major sponsor NCH Rent-

It was not an easy win. We had to really work hard from the
first day for the sweet victory.
For the 3rd and 4th place, Cubs led by Munesh outplayed Li-

out victors in consolation games.
I would like to thank Anita Persuad for sponsoring this
tournament. Total of 14 teams participated. We also had some
young bowlers participating which is very good boost for the
