ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE THAI CONTEXT
CAUSE
Thailand, we generate 520 million
plastic bags garbage a day and 10
millions come from convenience
store. Thai people use on average
5-8 plastic bags per day, which
comes to 520 million bags per Day.
We use it not more than 25
minutes before it ends up in the
Nature. Single-use plastic bag is a
scourge for the environment and
the oceans. It have dramatic
consequences on the environment,
the fauna and flora.

Nowadays Bangkok collects trash

up to 8,500 ton/day including
plastic bags 21% or 1,800 ton/day.
Therefore, changing to use cloth
bags will help reduce the cost of
trash collecting for 1.78 million
IMPACT baht/day or 650 million baht/year.

When it comes to plastic bags, less than five and

forty percent gets recycled and managed properly.
Almost all plastic bags in Thailand end up in our
drains and then in our rivers and then in our ocean
and those that don't even make it to the ocean,
they're either burned or littered. Moreover, it is
already affecting the tourism industry as people
complain about all the waste on the street, rivers,
beaches and so on.
