Good Day! Good day, panelist

Name of researchers We are the researchers

According to a study led by the University of

Plastics waste here in Georgia (2012), the Philippines have dumped 1 billion tons
Philippines of plastics in the ocean in 2010. On the other hand, the
country’s population is enormously fast-growing compared
to other countries in Asia. Due to the longtime of
decomposition, the disposals of the said plastics have
been one of the biggest problems of the country. Plastics
has been a long problem of the entire nation for a long
time now. It decomposes for a long period of time. It also
clogs up waterways which possibly leads to floods, and it
is toxic after it is exposed to certain temperature. One of
the serious problems the world is facing today is plastic
pollution. This study shows the capability of bio plastic to
reduce the usage of synthetic plastics.

Waterways problems Masses of plastic trash swirling in waterways, garbage

clogging drainage canals and huge stinking dump sites are
among the most visible manifestations of the waste crisis
here in our Municipality.

Title: We are entitled to conduct a study about:

Bioplastic from Bioplastic from Watermelon Rinds
Watermelon Rinds

Executive Plastics have been a long occurring problem. It harms the

Summary environment negatively, because it decomposes only after
a long period of time. Sewage systems often get clogged
because of this improper disposal of plastics. It also
contains harmful substances that could hurt the life on
earth.

Bioplastics could potentially be a big help in solving this

problem. It decomposes using more less time than the
commercial plastics and does not contain harmful
substances.

Objectives This study aims to know the potential of watermelon rinds

as alternative bioplastic and to reduce the problem of
plastic waste that is suffocating the planet and
contaminating the environment.

Significance The Significance of the study will benefit the following:

Who will benefit?

Pics  Consumers
 Fruit vendors
Local Government (LGU)

Consumer pic Consumers. The consumers can now be rest

assured that the possible harms of bioplastics will not be
transferred to the products they contain in it. Plastic is
known to be toxic at certain temperature, by using
bioplastics it is ensured to that the food would not contain
toxins harmful to the consumers

Fruit vendors Fruit Vendors. Vendors specially those who sell

pic watermelons would benefit from this study because the
watermelon rinds would would have some use and not be
thrown away anymore.
LGU pics Local Government (LGU). Plastics would be lessened hence,
they would provide a cleaner and healthier environment for the
people.

Methodology These are things that we ought to do during our study.

Flow Chart (from research Gather The needed materials, make the bioplastic,
paper) compare the different treatments, analyze and evaluate
the results
SOP The researchers are going to test the tensile strength or
breaking point, water absorption, and density of the
bioplastic
Potential Impact The researchers have decided to conduct this study
because the researchers themselves noticed that
watermelon rinds often are thrown away and wanted to
make use of the rinds. The goal of this study is to test the
potential of watermelon rinds as bioplastics . To help
lessen the issue of plastic trash that is poisoning the
environment and strangling the earth.

The researchers decided to run this study for 3 months
