Whats New

ERDAS-Net ERDAS-Net Licensing supports advanced security technologies and

provides an easy and flexible method to request and use licenses for all
Licensing 2010 ERDAS software. FLEXnet works in a similar manner across several
operating system platforms.

Added support for Windows 7 and support for many 64-bit Window
operating systems.

Refined usability.

4 Whats New
Customer Resolutions

ERDAS-Net
Licensing
ENL - General EAS and EAIM now support floating licences. EAS and EAIM now
work correctly with SafeNet dongles. [ENL-106]

When a license file was deleted outside of ERDAS-Net, the License

Administration tool would display errors about "creating the view"
and/or "loading children", and it would be impossible to correct the
situation. With this update, ERDAS-Net will advise you when a
nodelocked license file can not be found, and error messages do
not prevent you from registering other sources of licensing. [ENL-
117]

Installation The License Administration Tool displayed "String index out of

range: -1" with certain types of Alladin dongles and/or certain
versions of Aladdin dongle drivers installed, even if no Aladdin
dongles were in use. This particular problem has been eliminated
in some cases, and provides more helpful information in others. If
problems persist, it may still be necessary to upgrade or remove
older versions of Aladdin dongle drivers in order to run an ERDAS-
Net floating license server. [ENL-115]

License Administration A License Server administrator can now use "View License Usage"
to see when licenses that have been borrowed are scheduled to be
released. [ENL-13]

System ID The ERDAS-Net System ID Utility now displays Local Area

Connection ID, even for a machine with more than 5 network cards.

The FLEXid dongle field displays the current version of the Aladdin
HASP dongle driver, if detected, and permits a new driver to be
installed when an older version is detected. [ENL-109]

Customer Resolutions 5
Known Issues

ERDAS-Net
Licensing
ENL - General The License Administration Tool may not launch correctly after you
uninstall ERDAS IMAGINE 9.3 or LPS 9.3. Repair or re-install
ERDAS-Net Licensing. [ENL-158]

Installation The uninstallation of ERDAS-Net Licensing does not remove the list
of license sources that you have configured, and a copy of the
license files you have loaded is kept. This means that applications
can still run using configured license sources, and if you reinstall
ERDAS-Net, your licenses sources will still be visible. If you have
no plans to use or license ERDAS applications on a machine again,
you can safely remove both the [Program
Files]\ERDAS\Shared\licensing and
[ProgramData]\ERDAS\Shared\licensing folders. [ENL-27]

License Administration The License Administration Tool may display a message about
needing a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or a Java Development
Kit (JDK). This can happen in one of two cases.

- If an Administration tool (licadmin.exe) is already running, you

must have a copy of Java.exe or Javaw.exe somewhere in the
system path (e.g. c:\Windows\system32) in order to display the
message telling you that another copy is running.
- If no copies of licadmin.exe are running, then it is likely that the
copy of the JRE distributed with ERDAS-Net has been removed.
Modify the licadmin.ini file to point to an alternative JRE. [ENL-141]

After you borrow a license, the License Admin Tool will report zero
licenses available and in use for that feature, although the "View
Users" option will show which users (including you) are using that
feature. To see the correct totals, return the licenses on your
machine, or use another machine to run the License Admin Tool.
[ENL-169]

LINUX ONLY

The License Administration Tool will be unable to browse a local

license server, if an IPv6 address ("::1") is used for localhost in the
/etc/hosts file. Use the IPv4 address for localhost ("127.0.0.1")
instead. [ENL-180]

6 Known Issues
LINUX ONLY

The License Administration Tools will terminate abnormally if you

attempt to launch the on-line help. [ENL-215]

Javascript errors may appear in the Help content for the ERDAS-
Net License Administration tool. If so, this may be due to settings in
Internet Explorer which enable javascript debugging.

To remove these messages, reset the advanced settings in Internet

Explorer:
Internet Explorer -> Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Advanced
Tab -> "Restore advanced settings" Button
or check the following options in the Advanced Tab Settngs
Window:
"Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)"
"Disable script debugging (Other)"
and/or uncheck:
"Display a notification about every script error" [ENL-42]

WINDOWS ONLY

Licenses can be installed by double-clicking on a license file (.elf),

or by right-clicking on the file and selecting the "Open with License
Administrator" action. If the License Administration Tool is already
running, though, you will receive a message stating that the tool is
already running, or a message complaining about a missing Java
Runtime Environment (JRE).
The same message (already running or missing JRE) will appear if
you attempt to run a second copy of the License Administration Tool
when one is already running.
You can use "Load License File" within the already-running version
of the License Administration Tool. Alternatively, you can stop
LicAdmin.exe, and then double-click the license file or the License
Administration link to restart the tool. [ENL-57]

License Borrowing WINDOWS 7 ONLY

The license borrowing tool may terminate abnormally the first time
you attempt to borrow a large number of features, and also when
you attempt to return the licenses that you managed to borrow.
Continue trying to return all of the features, this may take a few
attempts. It may also help to remove the name of your license
server using the License Admin Tool and then add it back without a
port number. After this, borrowing and returning licenses are
generally reliable. [ENL-222]
