Natural Resource Conservation & Management interests me because I intend to pursue a

career as an ECO (Environmental Conservation Officer). I got in touch with your college by my

parents because they planned on going to Paul Smiths college in the past. The beautiful outdoors

comforts me. I want to help others enjoy it just as I do. My past experiences have given me a

respect for the environment. Our Environment is worth protecting.

Since I was young I have fished, hunted, and hiked. I remember the day I caught my first

fish. I was so proud of my catch. When my dad and I drove past the Ranger School, on our

fishing route, I often thought of a career in conservation. I want to preserve the outdoors because

I have been so blessed to grow up enjoying it. I hope that future generations will be able to

enjoy wildlife, as I have learned to do.

After high-school graduation I plan to attend Paul Smiths college. This will allow me to

grow in my interests and strengths. I want to be a positive role model to others by helping them

make wise decisions for their future and teaching them to appreciate the outdoors. My goal is to

graduate college, get a job with the DEC (Department of Environmental Conservation) and

continue to learn from those who have years of experience protecting the environment. It is my

desire to become a good officer and a responsible citizen. I believe that becoming an ECO is a

great fit for me.

Please accept my request to be a part of your college family; I know I will benefit from

the knowledge needed to make these goals possible. Thank you for the opportunity to have a
chance to come to your college, Paul Smiths.
