The search for Happiness has always remained mankinds greatest pursuit.

In understanding
what makes humans happy and how we respond to different emotions provides us a deeper
insight into the preciousness of being born as a human. As much as humans have endeavoured
to find answers, we are always challenged by our daily lives to balance life and work. These
aspects of humanity has shaped and led many countries to change and evolved into different
mindsets and understanding across cultules. Even, culutres as we know it, has its roots in mans
ultimate search for the unknown. Of all mans curiously, happiness has been both a huge
mystery and a known fact. We tend to know and understand what makes us happy and what
makes us not happy. The little things we do in our daily lives has made us a moving machine
whilst delving our thoughts and minds into why and how. As humans, our lives are a blend of
hundreds of emotions. These emotions emanate in different forms and at different times
depending upon situations and curcumstances in ones own life. Nevertheless, we remain
faithful to the fact that there is happiness and we look forward to our journey to attain continued
happiness.
Throughout ages, philopsopehrs and thinkers have tried to define happiness and what makes
us happy but never a definititave or an common answer. For this matter, Happiness has
continued to be a great topic of discussion and brain storming for the most part. Furthermore,
Happiness is an intristic nature of humans, that can mean different things to different people
which was well. (Weiss, Bates et al. 2008)
Happiness can then be defined as innate quality or a feature of a human being that can relefct
ones own state of mind and personal state of life. People with higer states of happiness has
been reported with people.

Ahead of us remains this constant task of soulsearching for answers related to mans happiness.
Much history and the current trend across earth, modernization and development has proved
that higher economic status or more money has trolled its way to eventually providing happiness
to mankind. However this distorted and concocted actuality has given way to more impediments
towards our pursuit for Happiness. Most would agree that economic status does play a key role
in defining happiness while other argue that it provides happiness to a certain state of ones life.
We could agree or disagree but both realities provide us a deeper understanding and a thought
provoking notion of happiness to diferent individuals. Attaining a fulfilled life can be difficiult for
any person on earch, be it the rich or the poorest, we face this ardous task of finding the
unknown tips to happiness. Nevertheless, we cannot ingnore that fact that, man has tried to find
and find solutions for our pressing issues in different times. The early periods of renaissance to
the modern day industrial revolution, we now have access and means of understanding what
people understood about happiness at different times of history and how it has changed and
evolved. It provided us critical information and trends as to how happiness has affected
humanity over the years. It is important to consider that as humans, we endeavour to find
answers for our solutions and gain happiness.

Our pursuit for happiness is long and never ending journey. While it is never a utopian journey
for humans, there definitely exits certain prcoeses and mechanisms that provide us way forward
for our search for happiness. The search for happiness is never about solving the problems of
humanity but a certain fulfilment for every individual to attain satisfaction with ones life and also
a way to take charge of ones life. Collectively, as a community and society, it strengthens the
core and with it develops good morales and habits within the collection. These qualities and
features as a consequcne of invidual happiness creates a unique harmony unaffected by the
levels of economy. It relefect the inner nature of human beings and contributes positively
towards growth and development as a society and country as whole.
Even Science has attempted to define happiness interms of a physco social behaviour. Due to
its fact and quantified based nature of science, science has tried to classifiy as Subjective
wellbeing or a Objective wellbeing. The two aspects of happiness has somehow tried to shape
things in perspective so that people can comprehend happiness in a lucid and coherent manner.
It tends to incline more towards how subkective well being can define happiness and how we
can operate in a system whereby people can become happy and satisfied. This holds true for
many reasons since most attributes of happiness is affected by both internal and external
factors. The science into understanding and measuring happiness through thing approach
provide us an extensive nature of how happiness can be morphed to suit and fufill our needs.
Decision makers take into account the imperatives and inferences which sicne has tried to
explain happiness to draw and influence decisions making. We can be confident that
understanding happiness, not only is inclusive but a discoverey of the innate desired and outer
fufillment of human beings.

Every country and continent tried to debate on this topic

In understanding Happiness, we look into the different forms of measurement tools and
criterions that different theoriest and economist have put in place. By no means are any of these
tools have acclaimed solutions to our happiness question.

Globally, we are monitored by differenet and varied financial performance on a regular basis and
is done in many different ways, mainly Gross Domestic Product or GDP.
The concept of GDP emerged in the early years of when the world went through crisis. A crisis
which was intentionaly meant to measure the amounts of goods and services in a country to
meet the resources of wartime needs. Towards the later half of century, economic
charactersitics begain measuring a coutnries economic development & progress.
This form of measurement system tries to quantify our development and progress in terms of
income generation. It is purely an economomic indicator which is highly quantified and obsessly
based on a countries annul income generation. For example, USA has a annual GDP per
person was 14 trillion dollars, these are mere figures but what does it tries to tell us. A
comparision to another country or pure metric measurement for Happiness?. GDP clearly is an
econmoc indicator and values the goods and services produced by a country on a year baisis.
Furthermore GDP also ignores important aspects such as the social cost and environmental
costs, injustice, income inequalities and much more. The indiicaors doesnt describe anything
with regard to the enivornmetal impact due to the economic acivity of the country. This crucial
information provides as a end value which show no causual relationship to its affect. This

Gross Domestic product as a development measurement idicators has limited in scope in many
aspects. The economic

It has reached a time and point for humans to look forand a need for alternative measurements
other than GDP which has achieved itself as a mainstream form of global measuresments for
growth and development. The need for an alternative was already initiated many years ago as
early as 1970s when other meansurements for growth and development were created such as
the Human Development index and OECD Researhc programs. There had been a constant
need to make measurements more inclusive and holistic rather than only economic indicators.
