Organology of the Symphony Orchestra


Strings: Violin, Viola, Violoncello, Double Bass
Woodwinds: Flute, Piccolo, Clarinet, Basson, Oboe, Saxo
Brass: Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba.
Percussion: Timpani, Snare Drum, Tenor drum, Bass Drum, Cymbals, Tam-tam, Triangle,
Wood block, Tambourine, Glockenspiel, Xylophone, Vibraphone, Chimes, Marimba.

The teacher explains the classification of the music instruments and put them together
in different categories:

-Strings:

-Plucking: Guitar, Harpischord, Harp
-Striking: Piano

-Woodwinds: Flute, Piccolo, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone

Comments: During the second quarter the time with 8th grade was short, we missed some
sessions, nevertheless we studied the complete symphony organology; however the practical
learning is still missing. In third quarter we have two sessions in each week so we can embrace
this part and combine it with the next unit topic.
