RE: Indoor Gallery for Space 4 Art Permanent Housing Project

Dear Mr. Bob Leathers,

Team 20 / 20 Vision is pleased to present this proposal for consideration and your review for the Indoor
Gallery space. Our goal at High Tech High is to help better the community via projects that occur in the
real world. Our education comes from planning, creating, and revising.

Two months ago we were put into groups and decided what spaces we wanted to design. Our group chose
to design the indoor gallery and we began researching how to make the space great for displaying work.
We then, met with a panel of professional artists that answered some of our questions, following after
that, we met with Matt Dunn to talk about what he would want in the space. Once we had what we needed
we proceeded with our design of the gallery space, creating the sketchup model, floor plan, and 3D
model.

Our purpose for the Indoor Gallery is to house events and performances, give artists inspiration, and let
the artists have a comfortable space to collaborate with other artists. This space is important to have
because it will give the artists a space to use for whatever they want.

We will have a fundraiser at Space 4 art on January 21st, we are going to be selling tickets, raffling off
items, having games and entertainment. We will be applying to the grant: Art Works sponsored by the
National Endowment of the Arts. We also have potential fundraising partners such as, Jamba Juice and
Panda Express.

We appreciate the opportunity we have been given to work with you and Space4Art and look forward to
hearing your feedback on our current design. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to
contact us at any time ( gsuarez@hightechhigh.org, sogonzalez@hightechhigh.org,

Thank you,

Gracie Suarez, Sophia Gonzalez, Jaddin Thomas and Isaac Romero

Mission Statement

We are Team 20/20 vision a group of 9th graders from High Tech High Chula Vista. We believe
that project based learning will help us better understand what it is like to be a professional in the
real world.

Overview and Goals

We are designing an indoor gallery space intended for housing art and supplying another room
for artists to work and meet. This space consists of an outdoor terrace, with two entrances and
exits. The first is a standard door located on the east wall and the second is a roll up garage door
on the same wall. It will also have three different storage spaces that will have shelves and be
able store chairs, the stage, and curation tools. The lighting used in this space will be two sets of
halogen track lighting tracks. This unique space is multifaceted in many ways. It will house
events and performances, give artists inspiration, and let the artists have a comfortable place to
relaxe and work.

The Indoor Gallery will be a large multipurpose space to conduct events such as meetings,
performances, presentations and art shows. Since this space is empty, it will be easy to transform
by putting the stage, chairs, tables or anything else needed for that event. This space can also be
used for a quiet and relaxing working space, since its a room with nothing in it.

Our gallery space can also be used as a quiet space for inspiration, it will inspire other artists
because they will be able to see other artists artwork that will be hung up on the walls. They will
also be able to see other artists working together and provide inspiration through their
collaboration.

This space will provide a place where artists can come together and bounce ideas off of one
another. It creates a space where artists can release tension and work on what they are passionate
about. With being surrounded by so many other artists,There are also spaces in the art gallery
where they have the opportunity to work in a different setting outside of their studio, whether
they need to work on paperwork or getting critique from other artists.

The gallery will be maintained by the artists and volunteers at Space4Art. After each event the
artists will be responsible for cleaning up after themselves, their will be a simple cleaning
protocol that will be supplied to all of the tendons.

Funding

We, as a 9th grade team are going to have a fundraiser at Space4Art on Saturday, January 21,
2017 from 5pm-8pm. The fundraiser will have raffle items and auctions to raise money for the
spaces we are designing. All proceeds from the auction and ticket sales will go directly to the
project.
We will be applying for Art Works, which is a grant for the National Endowment for the Arts
organization. They support the creation of art no matter the size of the project. This organization
wants to fund projects that want to strengthen the community through art and by learning about
art. The thing that is most important to them is that projects that they are funding can make a
difference in their community.

A creative way to fundraise that we can do is pass out fundraiser flyers to our whole school that
has on there that a percent of their total cost from what they bought goes to us. Some of the
restaurants that have these are Panda Express, Chick-Fil-A and Rubio's.

Site and Physical Planning

The location for our design will be on the northwest side of the artist community lot, and is on
the second floor. We have a terrace space that allows a view of the downstairs space, our space
also provides access to the elevator to the right of our storage on the north side of our space.
