Education Curriculum

Mentor Duties: Supervise three high schools, four middle schools, an


alternate education center, and an adult education
program.

School Environment:
Rochester Community School District is 66 square miles encompassing the City of Rochester,
Rochester Hills, and Oakland Charter Township. The system has approximately 1673 employees
(978 certified) and 14, 823 students. The community of Rochester Hills has a population of
73,000 residents and is considered a suburban area. The city continues to grow while
maintaining its small town charm. Over the past few years, RCS demographics have changed
slightly. There has been an increase in multi lingual families enrolling in the district. A slight
decline in the percentage of F/R eligible families. The demographics of the district are: 75%
Caucasian, 13 % Asian, 5% Hispanic, 4% African American, and 3% Multi Racial.
System decisions are guided through the lens of our strategic plan, Pride in Excellence:
Strategic Planning 2020, all students attending RCS will be focused on the goal of becoming
college ready, career ready, and life ready. Our mission statement, to provide a quality
education in a caring atmosphere for students to attain the necessary skills and knowledge to
become lifelong learners and contribute to a diverse, interdependent and changing world
supports our plan as well as our beliefs that were developed with representation from all
stakeholders.
