Jalies sewing technique for stretch fabrics (if you do not have a serger)
1. First seam: a large zigzag stitch directly on raw edge of fabric, without stretching the fabric (fig. 1).
This zigzag stitch will not be shown in the illustrations.
2. Second seam: a straight stitch 6 mm (1/4) from edge of the fabric, stretching the fabric lightly (fig. 2).
1. Views A and B
Pin front yokes to front and stitch with the yokes on top (fig. 4).
Pin back yokes to back and stitch with the yokes on top (fig. 5).
VIEW A
Pin front to back at shoulder (fig. 6), side (fig. 7) and crotch seams (fig. 8) and stitch.
Apply elastic to neckline, armholes and leg openings using the following technique :
o Overlap elastic ends and stitch as shown to form a loop (fig. 9). Divide loop into fourths and mark with pins (fig. 10).
o Divide opening into fourths and mark with pins (fig. 11).
o Pin elastic to wrong side of fabric, matching pins (fig. 12), and zigzag-stitch along the edge, stretching the elastic between
the pins as you sew to fit the opening (fig. 13).
o Fold in elastic so it's encased in the seam allowance, and sew again with a zigzag-stitch (over the visible
zigzag) or topstitch using a cover-stitch machine (or a double needle) (fig. 14) on the right side of the
fabric, stretching the elastic flat as you sew.
VIEW B
Pin front to back at shoulder seams (fig. 15) and side seams (fig. 16).
Pin crotch panel to front and back (fig. 17) and stitch.
Apply elastic to neckline and armholes using the technique illustrated in figures 9 to 14 (fig. 18).
Fold bottom of leg opening to wrong side by 2.5 cm (1) and topstitch using a zigzag stitch, double needle or cover stitch
(fig. 19).
2. Views C and D
Pin front to back at shoulder and side seams (fig. 20 and 21).
Fold band in half, right sides together and stitch as shown to form a loop (fig. 22).
Bring raw edges wrong sides together, divide into fourths and mark with pins (fig. 23).
Divide opening into fourths and mark with pins (fig. 24). Pin band to right side of neckline, matching pins (fig. 25) and zigzag
stitch along the edge, stretching the band between the pins to fit the opening.
Stitch again, using a straight stitch and stretching the band flat as you sew (fig. 26).
Repeat these steps to sew bands to armholes.
Bring seam allowances towards the main fabric and topstitch using a zigzag stitch, double needle or cover stitch (fig. 27).
VIEW C
Pin front to back at crotch seam and stitch (fig. 28).
Apply elastic to leg openings using the technique illustrated in figures 9 to 14 (fig. 29).
VIEW D
Pin crotch panel to front and back (fig. 30) and stitch.
Fold bottom of leg opening to wrong side by 2,5 cm (1) and topstitch using a zigzag stitch, double
needle or cover stitch (fig. 31).
Technique de couture Jalie pour tissus extensibles (utiliser cette technique si vous navez pas de surjeteuse)
1. Premire couture : point zigzag large directement sur le bord vif du tissu, sans tendre le tissu (fig. 1).
*Ce zigzag ne sera pas montr afin dallger les illustrations.
2. Deuxime couture : point droit 6 mm (1/4") du bord du tissu en tendant lgrement le tissu (fig. 2).

pingler les empicements devant au devant et coudre (fig. 4)
pingler les empicements dos au dos et coudre (fig. 5).
MODLE A
pingler le dos au devant et coudre les paules (fig. 6) et les cts (fig. 7) et lentrejambe (fig. 8).
Coudre les lastiques lencolure, aux emmanchures et aux cuisses en utilisant la technique suivante :
o Coudre les extrmits de llastique (fig. 9) et diviser celui-ci en quatre parties gales (fig. 10).
o Diviser louverture en quatre laide dpingles (fig. 11).
o pingler llastique sur lenvers de louverture en faisant correspondre les pingles (fig. 12) et coudre au point zigzag au bord vif du
tissu en tendant llastique entre les pingles (fig. 13).
o Rabattre llastique cousu sur lenvers du tissu et coudre nouveau au point zigzag ou laiguille double en tendant llastique
(fig. 14).
MODLE B
pingler le dos au devant et coudre les paules (fig. 15) et les cts (fig. 16).
pingler le panneau dentrejambe au dos et au devant et coudre (fig. 17).
Coudre les lastiques lencolure et aux emmanchures en utilisant la technique illustre en figures 9 14 (fig. 18).
Plier lourlet des jambes de 2,5 cm (1) sur lenvers et surpiquer au point zigzag ou laiguille double (fig. 19).
2. Modles C et D
pingler le dos au devant et coudre les paules (fig. 20) et les cts (fig. 21).
Plier la bande dencolure en deux, endroit contre endroit et coudre tel quillustr (fig. 22).
Ramener les bords vifs envers contre envers, diviser en quatre parties gales et marquer laide dpingles (fig. 23).
Diviser lencolure en quatre parties gales laide dpingles (fig. 24). pingler la bande sur lendroit de louverture (fig. 25) et coudre le
bord vif au point zigzag, en tendant la bande pour quelle sajuste louverture.
Faire une deuxime couture au point droit, en tendant lgrement la bande (fig. 26).
Rpter ces oprations pour les bandes demmanchures.
Ramener les ressources de couture des bandes vers le tissu principal et surpiquer au point zigzag troit ou laiguille double (fig. 27).
MODLE C
pingler le dos au devant et coudre lentrejambe (fig. 28).
Coudre les lastiques aux cuisses en utilisant la technique illustre en figures 9 14 (fig. 29).
MODLE D
pingler le panneau dentrejambe au dos et au devant et coudre (fig. 30).
Plier lourlet des jambes de 2,5 cm (1) sur lenvers et surpiquer au point zigzag ou laiguille double (fig. 31).
