After a 4-year hiatus following his critically acclaimed second album, Frank Ocean surprised fans in 2016 by releasing not one but two albums - "Blonde" and a visual album titled "Endless". The releases were heavily planned with a consistent visual style across the albums, their promotional materials and an accompanying magazine titled "Boys Don't Cry", strengthening Frank Ocean's artistic brand.

After the release of his second critically acclaimed album Channel Orange in 2012, Frank Ocean went on a 4 year
hiatus leaving his fans speculating for years, desperate for new music. Then in 2016, Blonde was released, in addition to a visual album Endless in a heavily choreographed release.
The poster features a
photo of Frank at a race track with a helmet on. The text on the front is minimal, This is representative of seeing as most of his fans the artists love for cars already knew of the project and and driving in general. there was already a massive The logo seen on his amount of hype surrounding the jumper was leaked album. months in advance, causing more anticipation for his fans which assumed this was the new albums logo. The visual style is in line with the cover art for the album as well as a magazine released in line with the album. This magazine was entitled Boys Dont Cry. This helps to strengthen Frank Oceans brand and also provides context towards some of the songs on the album. Several alternate covers of the poster were released, all featuring artwork seen in the magazine. There was a heavy sense of one single overlapping visual style seen in all materials related to the album. This creates a tied in experience for the artists audience. Note how on some covers the title is spelt with an e on the end and some spell it without. Whilst some could assume this was a mistake, it was actually done intentionally because it is referring to the masculine and feminine versions of the word. As it is spelt both ways it could be alluding to Franks sense of identifying with both traditionally male and female viewpoints and being unable to balance these. This attention to detail whilst at the same time being so minimalistic is why I especially like these posters.
