Standards:

1.1Combineandapplymovementpatterns,simpletocomplex,inaquatic,rhythms/dance,
andindividualanddualactivities.

1.2Demonstrateproficientmovementskillsinaquatic,rhythms/dance,andindividualanddualactivities.

1.7Analyzeandevaluatefeedbackfromproprioception,fromothers,andfromtheperformanceofcomplex
motor(movement)activitiestoimproveperformanceinaquatic,rhythms/dance,individualactivities,and
dualactivities.

1.8Analyzeandexplainwhichtrainingandconditioningpracticeshavethegreatestimpactonskill
acquisitionandperformanceinaquatic,rhythms/dance,andindividualanddualactivities.

Overview:
Ourdanceunitfollowsstartswithsimplelinedancesandprogressestopartnerdances.The
danceunitisintendedtoincludedancesthatstudentscouldencounterinlifeatweddingsand
parties.Studentsaregivendancecardswithrubricsprintedoutforthegradingrequirementsof
thedances.Studentsaretaughtthedancesandthengivenpracticetimewiththeirteamto
rehearsethedanceandprovideeachotherwithfeedback.Studentsthenperformthedancefor
theirpeersandareevaluated.Thefinalforthedanceunitisstudents,intheirteams,eitherpick
anexistingdancetoasongandlearnitandperformitfortheclassorpickandsongand
choreographadanceperformance.Studentsaregiventherubricforthedancewhichincludes
elementsofmovementandworkingwiththeirpeers.
