As an architecture student and not just an architecture student but also a
mankind who has a full concern, responsibility, and ability in maintaining, conserving,
and caring to our own natural habitat and natural environment that Gods beautiful
creation and awesome work. That God has entrusted this to all of us as a mankind by
the loving care and wise use of it and asked us to be stewards of the nature according
to the bible. So, In the article entitled Government reviewing coal policy, I get the fact
that most of them especially environmentalist want to stop the coal fired power plants so
that it will prevent greenhouse gases and global warming especially in this alarming
cases of climate change. In my opinion I am favorable of that as I said earlier as a
mankind we must care for the natural environment because it was our habitat. The coal
fired power plants was having a big amount of percentage in global greenhouse
emissions. Burning coal pollutes our environment with toxins, produces a quarter of
Philippine global warming emissions, and accounts for a whopping 80 percent of all
carbon emissions produced by power generation nationwide. Its time to reduce our
dependence on this polluting energy source. producing nearly half of the nations
electricity. To decrease our reliance on coal, we must shut down the oldest and dirtiest
coal plants and replace them with reliable and clean energy sources. Experts work to
analyze practical, cost-effective strategies for lowering Philippines coal use and have
consistently demonstrated that closing down the dirtiest coal-fired power plants would
not adversely effect the reliability of our electricity supply, nor would it significantly
increase the cost of electricity for consumers.
Now, I know that its also difficult to replace them with clean energy sources
especially in this time that our country was a developing country as of now. But clean
energy sources is a must have, healthy is the most important thing and also the natural
environment. Why should we start investing to other countries like US who suggest that.
We need to eat our pride not because we don't want help from other country because
the point is we need it, we really need it before its too late. We always have a choice
and everything is possible as long it will be a good especially to our country like
Philippines. We need to push for more green or clean energy sources. its about us,
about our habitat and to the next generation. Theres a lot solutions, we just need to
research, open our eyes and see the truth that a country can have an energy sources
like that even if it costly expensive and even our country was only a developing country.
Just don't underestimate it because the most important thing is the people who live and
the environment or habitat they live on. It is worth money for a million lives of creature
will be save. We can have renewable and sustainable energy that is relevant now.
Renewable energy technologies are clean sources of energy that have a much lower
environmental impact than conventional energy technologies and it will not run out ever.
Other sources of energy are finite and will some day be depleted. Most renewable
energy investments are spent on materials and workmanship to build and maintain the
facilities, rather than on costly energy imports. Renewable energy investments are
usually spent within other countries frequently, and often in the same place. This means
your energy cost stay home to create jobs and fuel local economies, rather than going
overseas. And theres still a lot of more clean source energy can be alternative to coal-
fired plants, thats all.
