2 killed, 13 injured as taxi rams into Greyhound bus

Cape Town - Two people were killed and 13 injured when a taxi rammed into a

Greyhound bus early on Monday morning on the N1 at the Hex River Pass between

Touws River and De Doorns, Western Cape Traffic Services have confirmed.
Traffic chief Kenny Africa said the crash occurred at 04:00 a.m when the Toyota

Quantum, heading north from Cape Town, drove into the stationery bus, which was

parked on the side of the road with mechanical problems.

"While there were no fatalities or injuries on the bus, two taxi passengers died and three

were seriously injured. Ten others sustained slight injuries," he said.

The patients were taken to Worcester Hospital.

"The road was closed between 04:00 a.m and 08:00 a.m as the scene was cleared,"

Africa said.

Touws River police are investigating.

 Joburg woman dies after BMW crashes into tree

Johannesburg - A woman has died after she collided with a tree on Sunday morning in

Mulbarton, south of Johannesburg, paramedics said.

Paramedics arrived at about 06:00 a.m to find the woman in the driver's seat of her

BMW on True North Road, ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said.

The woman, believed to be 24, had sustained severe injuries.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she subsequently died, Vermaak said.

The cause of the accident is unclear.
