1.0 INTRODUCTION

Maintenance is a procedure of repairing a machine. It is to guarantee that all operations

performed by the machine run easily. Furthermore it is likewise to guarantee the machine's life
expectancy achieves the ideal level. This is on account of the machine is a critical resource in an
association to deliver better administration with a specific end goal to keep up the execution of an
association. An association is compelled to spend in case of a support action. While the
requirement for cost-slicing must be accomplished for part overhauls and switches, it decreases
costs and expands the life expectancy of a machine. Support is additionally imperative in
guaranteeing the nature of administration, item and security of representatives and clients.

2.0 THE IMPORTANCE OF MAINTENANCE

The management of the aforementioned purpose is to:

- Ensure the machine works properly, continuously and safely used

- Maintain and extend life expectancy
- Get maximum resistance in line with spending
- Save costs
- Guaranteed user safety
- Preserve the companys image

3.0 MAINTENANCE ACTIVITES

The first step of maintenance activities is having a maintenance checklist. Even if the
system is operating, always check the section showing all the relevant security alerts and
information:

Check regularly on both sides of the system and ensure that no deficiencies occur
Early detection of incorrect spell or improper belt tracking.
Check the condition of the machine while the operation system is resting and electrically
locked:
- Ensure the components are in good condition.
- Serving machine checks and detecting any signs of early damage to the machine
- Check the safety system.
- Test control equipment.
- Check the flexibility in the chute and skirting area.
- ensure the machine components are always clean and good.
- Always replace the machine cleaning tool.

4.0 TYPES OF MAINTENANCE

These listed preventive maintenance steps are an easy way to determine the status of a
system operation. This maintenance procedure is made for the prevention and identification of
potential problem areas so that the situation is not getting worse which may lead to possible failure

4.1 PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKLISTS

To ensure the effectiveness of maintenance operations, preventive maintenance procedures

are a great way for this system. Preventive maintenance is divided into three types which
are:

Inspection Checklists
This checklist requires the highest mechanical and electrical skills primarily related
to inspection and coordination, although the task of tightening and cleaning may be
included when the equipment is slick or complicated. Inspection inspection activities are
limited to weekly, monthly, quarterly, semiannually, and annually.

Cleaning and Lubricating Checklists

This checklist is a dump, lubricating, and tightening activity. These works do
not need technical skills as in the examination. Performance levels for cleaning and
lubrication activities are also very limited on monthly, annual basis

Routine - Preventive Maintenance Checklists

This checklist relates to all activities. Inspection and coordination of work given
at this stage is less complex than those listed on the inspection. Frequency of
performance for routine preventive maintenance review activities is limited to
daily, weekly and weekly intervals.

4.1.1 Daily

Performed by the Operator.

1. Check the conductor control operation. Make sure all push buttons "STOP" are working
properly. And make sure all the switches work correctly.
2. Clean all dust and dirt collection from the surface of the machine and remove all garbage
collection. Do this when the conveyor belts stop. Never touch a belt that is moving or
rotating.
3. Make sure the belt is tracking correctly.

4.1.2 Weekly

1. Security - takes all security measures seriously. Turn off the conveyor unless during
operation should be done with the running equipment. Never touch the belt while moving
or rotating.
2. Check all the controls and wiring - In the condition of the shutter closed and disconnected,
look for damage to the wiring. Do not try to touch loose wires.
3. Check Motor and Reducer - By closing the conveyor, find the damage to the motor and
find the source of the lubricant leakage. If the leak is detected, check the correct oil level.
Add oil if needed.
4. Clean the Conveyor - Clear all the debris from the bottom of the conveyor. Make sure the
sender is locked.
5. Clean - Ensures all the equipment removed from the operating area. Starting repair works
as needed. Report to maintenance supervisors if serious things happen.

4.1.3 Monthly Routine

1. Examine all components - In the situation which the conveyor is still moving, observe the
abnormal sound that comes from any assemblies of sheets or bearings. All pulley bearings
should be lubricated every four to six weeks. Fasten the setperk if needed. Do not touch
the rotating part.

2. Check the Belt - If the transmitter is still running, look for damage from the belt. Remove
any edges or strings attached to a package that can effect the mounting sheet. Also repair
or replace the damaged belt. Do not work on the belt while it is working

3. Back Rollers - Using metal rods to hear abnormal sounds. Remove the window cover to
gain access to some roller shafts. Replace all the covers when finished.

4. Check the Mounting Bolt - Check all the drive motors to ensure the bolt installation is tight.
Inspect the conveyor-resistant bolt to ensure the conveyor will not be loose from the floor-
holding device.

5. Screw the Electric cable - Check the electrical cables to ensure the cord doesn't pull out of
the cable connector.

6. Electrical Wiring - Check all electrical and electrical lines to ensure damage does not occur
during the conveyor operation. Repair damaged, loose, exposed wiring or connections.

7. Cleaning process - correct the sender to the origin. Ensuring that all inspection tools are
removed from the area. Initiate repair work tasks if needed. Report the deficiencies that
occur to the maintenance supervisor

4.1.4 Quarterly

Lubrication and Adjustment Roller Cam - Check and customize cam rollers. Front and back cam
support blocks require lubrication provisions. To lubricate the rear camera, the rear guard must be
removed. All cam rollers need to be checked for proper adjustment. The engine must be locked for
this procedure.

4.1.5 Semi-annually

1. Conversion of gear fluid - to be changed twice within a year. Components related to gears
should be channeled and clean. When refueling to any gear component, use the following
procedure: a. Remove the oil plug that controls the height of the oil level. B. Remove the
fill line plug located at the top of the gear box. C. Add lubrication in the right way. Replace
the two plugs in the gear box

2. Checking the main control panel - Wipe the dirt sticking outside the panel. Remove the dirt
from the inside of the panel Do not touch the wire. Find burned wiring and loose terminal
connections. Close the panel.

3. Drive parts - With conveyors in operating situations, be careful when placing joints
between motor and metal rods to detect any vibration from the bearings or gears.

4. Roller wheels - With the shutter closed and locked, make sure the dirt from the chain and
the sprocket is cleaned.

5. Handling of wheels and lubricants - each wheel holder needs to be inspected. All wheel
bearings should be lubricated at least twice a year, and quarterly if the unit is always
approved

5.0 MAINTENANCE COST

Choosing preventive maintenance as the best alternative requires maintenance costs ie: Annual
maintenance and repair costs

(1) Labor cost -3 men

= 3 x 2.50 x 2000 = $15,000

(2) Material cost for replacement and lubrication

=10% of belt cost + 2% of equipment cost
= 10% of $93,000 + 2% of $29,000
=$9,300 + $580 = $9,880

Total maintenance and repair cost

= item (1) + item (2) above

= $15,000 + $9,880 = $24,880

6.0 CONCLUSION

Taking everything into account, in working this transport line machine requires a
considerable measure of support and cost to guarantee that the machine is in great condition and
working with no interruption to the disturbance and trade off of an organization. With a specific
end goal to keep any issues from happening, the determination of support sorts ought to likewise
be underscored not to pick the wrong method for upkeep that will mischief and harm the machine
and the great name of the organization
