Youre moving out of your rental apartment. Write a letter to your neighbor to say goodbye.

In your
letter say

When and where do you move?

Why do you move out?
How do you feel about it?

Dear Mr. Umar,

You have been great neighbor to us and I want to personally say goodbye to you through this letter. Our
family will be leaving Bangalore to resettle in Hyderabad because I have been offered a good job with
bombardier there. As you know my parents stay in Hyderabad it will be good for my kid to have love of
grandparents. We find these opportunities hard to pass.

Thank you so much for being friendly and thoughtful neighbor. You made us feel welcome in the
neighborhood when we moved in there and you have become very good friend of ours. We enjoyed
several years of our stay in Bangalore because of you and we are so grateful.

Tamina, you and your kindness will be so missed. Thank you for 6 great years of warm hellos, Holiday
trips, Festival gatherings, lunches out, and for genuinely caring about my family and I. I will never forget
the times that we have shared over the years and I know that we will still stay in touch, whether you are
right next door or across town. No one will ever replace my favorite neighbor.

Yours Sincerely,

Mr. Krishna
Nowadays people use different machines and devices to do housework. Do you see it continuing as a
trend? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this?

Now a days more and more people have home appliances, such as refrigerator or washing machines.
The inventions and the soaring sales volume of popular home appliances have significantly transformed
our ways of life. I believe this change of life style is going to stay. Despite the obvious advantages these
consumer goods bring to our society, more emphases should be addressed on the drawbacks that they
may incur.

Endurable products like refrigerators or washing machines improve the quality of our lives and boost the
global economy as well. Refrigerators, for example, keep the freshness of food and prevent them from
decaying. Nowadays, householders can still cook delicious food without going shopping as frequently as
our previous generations. Washing machines set us free from tedious work of washing clothes daily and
allow us to spend more time on leisure sports and entertainments. Producing sufficient goods to meet
the global needs also drives the economic growth. Many countries benefit a lot from selling these kinds
of goods to the international market. However, the advantages we gain may not justify the costs we
have to pay.

Uncontrolled consumption of these conveniences leads to serious problems such as environment

degradation, energy crisis and resource depletion. These in turn harm the sustainable development of
our economies. Modern conveniences are highly energy consuming machines. Worse, they waste our
limited resources washing machines, for instance, use much more fresh water than hand washing does.
With the consumption increasing sharply, power plants need to burn more fossil fuels and this in turn
emits more greenhouse gas into the atmosphere, causing serious pollution and energy crisis. All these
problems need huge expenditure from governments and society to combat with.

In conclusion, consumer goods may bring conveniences to individuals, but the environmental problems
ensuing should not be neglected. Efforts should be taken to tackle these problems by individuals,
societies and governments altogether otherwise, it would be too late for humans to correct our
mistakes.
You live in a rental accommodation. Due to a recent bad weather event there was a small amount of
damage to your apartment. Write a letter to your landlord and say

What was damaged and why?

How is this damage causing you a problem?
What would you like your landlord to do about it?

Dear Mr. Shripad,

I am writing to inform you that due to heavy rains in our city, for the past several days, there has been a
problem of water seepage in our building.

Large quantity of water has collected on the terrace. As a result of which the water has seeped through
the ceiling of our Flat. Due to the seepage the wall and the ceiling plaster is being damaged .The seepage
is further damaging the wallpaper and the interior woodwork also.

My concern is that mold will begin to grow and pollute the indoor air quality. Being asthma patient I am
allergic to these molds.

If the problem is not dealt timely then it can lead to extensive damage in the apartment and will effect
my health. So I request you to look into the problem and do the waterproofing of ceiling as soon as
possible.

Thanking you,

Yours truly,

Arvind
Some people say that not all criminals should be sent to prison. Instead they should do unpaid work
to help people in the community. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give your opinion
and relevant examples.

Most criminals spend not months but years in prison, and if they are not productively used it is both a
wastage of precious human resource and an erosion of the prisoners capacities. I believe all inmates
need to be engaged in activities that benefit them as well as the community.

Though almost all criminals are in jail for some sort of offence (crime), many have never committed a
heinous crime. While some spend time in jail for theft, others are there due to dire circumstances. These
people need support from the society and system to emerge out of their livess crisis. This can only be
done if they are engaged in productive activities such as making utensils that are beneficial to the
community.

Moreover, criminals, even hardened ones, need second chance to reform themselves. To create
a humane society that cherishes the principle of harmony, we need to give an opportunity to criminals to
become useful for the community. This cannot be done by confining them to solitary imprisonment. This
can only be done by making them feel useful for the society.

Researchers have proven that those prisoners who are engaged in productive activities such as making
furniture, welding metals, growing vegetables, etc. not only have better chances of surviving once they
are released from prison, but also have a more constructive mindset. Even global food chains sell
vegetables produced by prisoners to give a meaning to their lives.

Thus, working for the benefit of society helps in prisoner rehabilitation allowing them to become
contributing members of the society. Though these activities are mostly unpaid, they are beneficial both
for the society as well as inmates.
