I.

Vision

Few years from now, I will be a leader that motivates and inspires my
team and colleagues. As a leader, I will help my teammates develop their skills
and bring out the best in them and make them feel important and appreciated. I
hope to be a good role model of honesty, integrity, attitude and work ethic.

In my profession as a State Auditor, I hope to contribute largely in the

nation building by being an example to the new generation of State Auditors. Like
the former Head of the Commission on Audit, Atty. Grace Pulido-Tan, I hope to
change the publics perception that State Auditors are partners of corrupt
government officials in the embezzlement of public funds. I will prove to the
public that State Auditors are the watchdogs of government funds. I will not only
look into the wrong practices of government bodies but I will also offer
recommendations that will help prevent the same practices in the future. I will
coordinate with my colleagues to develop guidelines that will ensure that the
government funds are safeguarded against misuse.

II. My Core Values

Respect and Compassion

I will prioritize the recognition of the dignity of other people in all the
aspects of my leadership and decisions. Even though I am above them, I will
respect my teammates as if we were in the same level. I will respect my
teammates beliefs and ideas.

The respect and compassion of Pope Francis not only to the Catholics but
to all people regardless of their religion made him one of the most admired and
beloved Pope. As a leader, the practices of Pope Francis will serve as my
inspiration to be a respectful and compassionate leader.
Conceptualization

I will make sure that in every scenario, I will look into the big picture. I will
look into the details and consider all the possible outcomes of my actions. The
solutions that will be implemented must not just be quick fix solution but
instead, a concrete long-term solution that can sustain and will benefit the
organization in the long run.

In 2012, even though President Benigno Aquino knows that his decision
will be unpopular to those who will be affected by the proposed law, he still
signed the Sin Tax Law that will impose additional taxes to addictive products
such as cigarettes and alcoholic beverages. He saw the big picture that the
country will benefit from the additional income that will be collected from sin taxes
while at the same time, minimizing the number of people that were getting
addicted and were suffering from complications derived from the excessive use
of these products.

Creativity and Diversity

I will discover and nurture new ideas and innovations that will help
improve the tasks of State Auditors. I will collaborate with my colleagues in
developing new guidelines that will not only help government agencies in the
effective delivery of their basic services and functions but will also ensure that
government funds are properly expended.

This is the same reason why the apple brand is still leading the smart
phone market. Steve Jobs was creative in developing the iphone. He described
that apple is a product of art and technology. Apples flagship phone introduced
new features that pushed the limits of smart phones. Despite the emergence of
many competitors, apple remained on top by using its creativity in developing
new features that are applied in their products, particularly iphone.
Harmony and Interdependence

I will always remind the team that we should keep in mind that we need
each other and we should strive to work together. I will develop a culture that
involves everyone in any activities, be it in a small or big way. I will also impart to
my teammates that each of us is like a component of a mechanical clock and the
absence of one component will render the clock non-functional.

The coach of the NBA team San Antonio Spurs, Greg Popovich values
team work a lot. Most of the basketball plays that he drew involved every player
in the court; each has a function so that the team can easily shoot the basket.
The Spurs is now recognized as one of the NBAs best passing team and an
organization that utilizes teamwork effectively. In an interview he said that: no
one is bigger than a team. If you cant do things our way, youre not getting time
here and we dont care who you are.

Commitment to community and Ubuntu

I will also train my team to recognize that everyone has a responsibility for
the welfare of others. I will remind them that as State Auditors, we are
responsible in ensuring that the government funds are used for the benefit of the
public. That we should set aside our self-interest and think and do something that
will be beneficial for the country.

The principles of Ubuntu guided Nelson Mandela in his course of

leadership that helped bring end to apartheid and led to the establishment of a
multiracial government in Africa. He also introduced numerous social and
economic programs designed to improve the living standards of South Africas
black population. He presided over the enactment of a new South African
constitution, which established a strong central government based on majority
rule and prohibited discrimination against minorities, including whites.
III. My Identity as a Leader

I will ensure that I will stay true to my values as I develop and take on
higher level leadership position. I will always remind myself that these are the
exact reasons that helped me develop and attain my current position thus; I must
continue to stay true with these values. I will always consider these values in
every action that I take and every decision that I make. I will remember these
values by heart and I will not lose my focus. I will always keep in mind that these
values will help me a lot in becoming a successful leader.

IV. My Long-Term Goals

Three years from now, I aim to be included in the United Nations (UN)
pool of auditors. As an UN auditor, I will be exposed to more extensive and
advance audit procedures which can help me improve my skills. I will also learn
globally applied techniques which I can apply in my job as a State Auditor. I will
also share the knowledge that I will learn from UN audit to my colleagues so that
the overall quality of state audit in the country will be improved.

V. My Short-Term Goals

Two years from now, my goal is to be an Audit Team Leader. As an ATL, I

will encourage my team members to be vigilant in the audit of government
transactions. I will share to them everything that I know about the audit of
government transactions and I will work with them harmoniously. I will encourage
them to strive hard to also be an ATL like me. I will always remind them to be
ethical in the course of our audit. Lastly, I will advise them to love and enjoy
everything that we do and appreciate our work. What we are doing as State
Auditors is something special, we are given the opportunity to work for a living
and at the same time do something beneficial for the sake of our country.
