MODULE 5: STAFF DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Viking Middle School: SharePoint Webpages

A well-organized and attractive webpage is an essential communication component for a

school district in today’s world. Baldwin-Woodville is in the process of revamping its
webpage and will utilize SharePoint 2010. The installation process is underway so this
fall staff members will require training in creating and editing their site. It is not an user-
friendly program so support will be needed throughout the year. Each teacher in the
district is required to have a webpage with minimal information on it. Others see the
potential of a webpage as a communication and education tool so training needs to be
provided for a variety of needs. Training sessions will be provided for all teachers,
designated secretaries in each building, and support services (transportation, food service,
parent teacher organization to name a few).

Minimal requirements are: a short biography including educational training, contact

information, subjects taught, and a graphic of some kind.

People involved in the training process are: the network technician, technology director,
media specialists, elementary and high school secretaries, and CIT (the company
providing the upgrade, initial setup, and training for the inhouse trainers. As the
aforementioned group is trained, most of them will be expected to train others in their
buildings. The secretaries will not be involved in that portion of it.

aspects of Sharepoint.

areas of Sharepoint they feel they need more training on:

What did you find most helpful in today’s session?

What aspects of Sharepoint do you find confusing?

What would you like to do with Sharepoint that you haven’t been able to do yet?

Indicate your interest in possible future topics:
