1. A standard solution of sodium carbonate was prepared by weighing 1.3g of sodium carbonate salt and dissolving it in distilled water in a 250mL volumetric flask.
2. The standard sodium carbonate solution was then used to titrate a hydrochloric acid solution. 25mL aliquots of the sodium carbonate solution were pipetted into three conical flasks and titrated with hydrochloric acid from a burette until a color change was observed.
3. The concentration of the hydrochloric acid solution was calculated based on the average volume used in the titrations.

1. Preparation of sodium carbonate standard solution.
i) 1.3g sodium carbonate salt are weighed accurately standard cleaning. The 250CM flask are then were filled with the sodium carbonate salt quantitatively. ii) 80CM distilled water were added and were shaken until the sodium carbonate salt dissolve. Water then were added until the right amount of water are achieved and then are shaken again. The solution then are poured to a beaker that were labelled NaCO. iii) The concentration of the standard solution of sodium carbonate then were calculated in the mol litter1 unit.
2. Standardization of hydrochloric acid solution.
i) The concentrated standard sodium carbonate (NaCO) solution that were prepared are pipetted 25CM equal to 3 conical flask 250CM(the 3 conical flask then were labelled as A,B and C) . 2 methyl drops then are dropped to each of the cone flask. ii) Hydrochloric acid then were filled to 25CM burette to the zero point. Early reading then were taken. iii) The solution then are poured into conical flask A with hydrochloric acid using burette until the solution became reddish. The reading then were calculated. iv) The above process were repeated for conical flask B and C. v) The burette then are streamed by acid to 0.5CM until the last drop. The above process were needed to be repeated and were made sure are not different more than 0.2CM from the others. vi) The concentration of hydrochloric acid were calculated.
