Introduction

1.1 Introduction to Research

Research is the systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order

to establish facts and reach new conclusions. This is best accomplished by turning the issue into

a question, with the intent of the research to answer the question. Research must be systematic

and follow a series of steps and a rigid standard protocol. Rules are broadly similar but may vary

slightly between the different fields of science. The scientific definition of research generally

state that a variable must be manipulated, although case studies and purely observational science.

It is divided into two general categories: (1) Basic research is inquiry aimed at increasing

scientific knowledge, and (2) Applied research is effort aimed at using basic research for solving

Problems or developing new processes, products, or techniques. Research is a systematic inquiry

to describe, Explain, predict and control the observed phenomenon.

1.2 Background

The research is done through the different colleges and school around lalitpur area by

BASW 2nd yr students. This research is done in order to find out depression among the boys in

Lalitpur area.

Depression is the common cold of mental disorders most people will be affected by

depression in their lives either directly or indirectly, through a friend or family member.

Confusion is common place about depression, for example, about what depression exactly is and

what makes it different from just feeling down. Depressions in boys are characterized by a

number of common symptoms. A person who is depressed also often has feelings of guilt,

worthlessness, and helplessness. They no longer take interest or pleasure in hobbies and

activities that were once enjoyed; this may include things like going out with friends or even sex.

Insomnia, early-morning awakening, and oversleeping are all common.

Teens with depression may appear sad or listless a lot of the time (we may not notice this

all the

time, but it persists for at least two weeks.) They may engage in behaviors to distract them from

their

feelings, such as drinking and drug use, skipping school, or getting into fights.

Boys with depression may: Commented [P1]: Seems copied

State that they feel empty, or unable to put their feelings into words

Report feeling that things will never get better

Have thoughts about not wanting to live or about hurting themselves

May have tried to hurt themselves

Engage in drug or alcohol use.

1.3 Statement of the study

Depression is a major cause of psychological illness. Depression affects not only the life

of the person who suffers from the disorder, but also the lives of family and friends and

depression ultimately affects society as a whole. The research paper is based on ideation of boys

or teenage depression and their tendency to do nothing. It attempts to find out which sex group is

facing more depression .

1.4 Significance of the study

The purpose of this study was to determine the incidence of anxiety and depression among

boys of lalitpur.

Academic sector

This report can be used to aware students of colleges about thoughts of depression and its

consequence in their life. As it provides awareness about the depression it can be used to

minimize the sadness thoughts in teenagers or boys by making different programs to cope up

with their social and mental problems.

Development sector

This report can help INGO, NGO and Go which works on the field related to suicide topic.

1.5 Objective

To identify the knowledge about depression.

To review the available research and literature regarding causes of depression among

boys.

To find out how they are facing depression.

To determine the relationship about the sleeping disorder (SD) among boys

To determine the relationship about the emotional distress among boys.

1.6 Hypothesis

The incidence of anxiety and depression will be greater in boys than in the general public and

that incidence will be similar to that seen in other teenagers.

What is the incidence of anxiety and depression among boys?

1.7 Limitation

This research aid to minimize depression but it doesnt bring complete end to a depression.

The study was conducted only in Lalitpur district so; it may not be applicable in other rural

area of Nepal as the problem faces by them may be different.

Biasness may occur as researcher has chosen non probability sampling type.

Literature Review

Based on future data collections, Most of the survey was conducting by questionnaire and being

distributed to the student in the university. The result of this study is to measure the depression

on boys. Student is connected to higher levels of depression and happiness with the boys life in

University, (Schiffrin et al,2014). The results were found by the previous research that the

increased use of medicine drugs for reduced the depression among boys, that was reported by

helicopter parenting (Schiffrin et al,2014).

Secondly is for emotional distress, In the school and college environment, most of the boys will

having an emotional distress due to high depression in many tasks and assignment in school and

college . From the previous research , the research investigate the highest possible that relates to

depression, anxiety, and stress in the population of college students are boys in the school and

colleges . (Nyer et al.,2015). This research investigated to 374 undergraduate students in the ages

of 18 and 24 that attend in the Franciscan University, Steubenville, Ohio. The result reports that

the 19 sources of targeted student were being survey and the 10 targeted student that caused the

most stressful thing happened to them , there are academic performance, post-graduation plans,

financial, quality of sleeping , relationship with friends and family, overall health, body image,

and self-esteem. (Nyer et al.,2015) Lastly is the Sleeping disorder, from the previous studies

sleeping disorder was being observed whether students having a high depressive symptoms with

sleeping disorder and without sleeping disorder differed across psychiatric aspect.(Rosen et al.,

2015). The research reported from the data being collect, 287 students from high parent study
showed at undergraduate colleges in the United States by the Depression Clinical and Research

Program (DCRP) of the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Department of Psychiatry

(original study results reported in Farabaugh . The result was found that there were no

statistically significant changes in demographic characteristics, including age, gender

distribution, and self-reported GPA, between students with and without Sleeping Disorder

(SD).(Rosen et al., 2015).

Methodology

3.1 Research Design

The sample consist 50 people from Oxbridge College. Participants will be selected randomly

from the students of Oxbridge College by Quota Sampling.

3.2 Sampling

Sample refers to the subsets of the overall population selected in order to be representative of the

population. Sampling is the .process of selecting of the sample.

Sampling was done in order to select respondent for the survey.

Sampling Method: Quota Sampling

This research use Quota sampling. Quota sampling refers to non-probability sampling where

sample are selected in order to fit certain quotas.

Sample Size

The sample size is 50 people who are adolescents. Out of them 25 were male and 25 of them are

female.
Methods used

The study area and rational of selection out of different area was the sample area for this study.

This study based on primary data which are collected from students of BASW students and

students studying in Lalitpur school and secondary data collected from internet.Primary method

are those that are collected or seen firsthand, it is not handed or passed from one person to

another and the information is not distorted or changed as the information is collected firsthand.

Findings

In a study researcher, completed a set of psychosocial questionnaires measuring intensity and

chronicity of loneliness, general anxiety, test anxiety, neuroticism, depression, extraversion, self-

esteem, locus of control, perceptions of parents, general health, and appraisals of stressful life

events. The results of the study showed that males tested higher on the intensity of loneliness,

and females tested higher on general anxiety, test anxiety, and neuroticism. There was no

significant gender differences observed with chronicity of loneliness, depression, extraversion,

self-esteem, external locus of control, general health, or perceptions of parents. The similarities

in personality traits between genders could be due to the highly selective nature of students who

apply to medical school; often medical schools choose students with distinct personalities who

have the ability to compete in an extremely stressful environment. In this study, stressful life

events were viewed more negatively for females than for the males. It was concluded that future

research would enable healthcare providers to better recognize signs and symptoms of depression

among medical students, and provide intervention when and where it is appropriate.

I suggest u to do it accordingly otherwise External may reject your
When looking at anxiety and depression levels by state, a significant difference was seen work

between the state of Maine and all the other states surveyed, although mean anxiety and

depression scores in Maine were not clinically significant. Although this study indicates that

physical therapy students as a whole dont suffer from anxiety and depression, it is still important

for faculty to be able to recognize the signs of anxiety and depression in their students because

anxiety and depression can still occur in physical therapy students. Many university students

including physical therapy students utilize campus psychological services (which are fortunately

provided at most universities). Despite this, many faculty have probably had a student who has

attempted or committed suicide. This fact gives credence to the warning for all faculty to be

mindful of their students behaviors and emotions.
