Student expectation for beginning of class:

1. If the use of the restroom is required a student must place their backpack down in the hall and
proceed to the restroom.

2. Come into the room calmly and quietly.

3. If needed, sharpen your pencil.

4. Check the agenda on the board and copy down your homework on your planner sheet.

5. Start immediately on the warm up.

Approximate Course Outline:

Average Amount of Homework:

Students will generally have about one to two assignments per week. Some topics will require more
independent practice at home than others. Generally, all students will have 2 nights to complete their
homework.
General Methods of Assessment and Grade Calculations:

55% accumulation of final grade Daily Work, Quizzes and Homework

45% accumulation of final grade Curriculum based assessments (1/ nine week)

*Please note there are no redos on assessments.* Unit Assessments (3/ nine weeks)

Make up work

The procedures are laid out in the DISD Student Handbook. It is the responsibility of the student to get any
work missed due to an absence. Any missed assignments will be placed in the absent work folder.

Turning in assignments/Late work

Homework and any assignments are due at the beginning of class, unless told otherwise.

Tutorials

Tutorials are available every morning starting at 7:00 in the respective teachers classrooms. Students will have
a pass placed on their binder in case they need to attend tutorials. Please note that tutorials are a time for silent
reading, assistance with unfinished classwork or absent work from a core content teacher and unfinished group
work or projects with other students. Tutorials is not a time for socializing. If a student is in a tutorial room for
socializing, then they will be asked to leave and go to the gym until the morning bell rings for dismissal to 1 st
period.

Remind and Class DoJo

Please sign up for your childs class on Remind and Class DoJo. This are a wonderful tool of communication in
regards to behavior and also for upcoming activities at BMS or for upcoming due dates in science class.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

BMS is a BYOD campus. We encourage our students to bring their devices (phones, iPads, Kindles, etc) to
school so that we may use them for assignments. Access to a Wi-Fi network is available at no cost and students
are able to log on using the district provided Wi-Fi. If you are uncomfortable with your child bringing their
device, please note this is not mandatory and your child will not be penalized in any way.
