It includes 30 junior and 70 senior students. What is the
minimum number of senior boys are there?
Solution:
Boys=40 Girls=60
Juniors=30 Seniors=70
Minimum Senior boys=?
For Minimum senior Boys, Maximum Girls will be Senior and
Remaining will be Senior boys
Minimum Senior Boys=70-60=10
Question.2 A clock's minute hand is 10cm long. What area it
will cover from 9:00am to 9:35am?
Solution:
r=10 cm
Area= pi* r^2* angle
Area= 3.14*10*10*(7/12)
Area=183.3 cm^2

Note: for 35 minute, minute hand position will be at 7 angle

with position as 7/12 or angle= 210/360
Question.3:
A car covers 'k' miles in 50 minutes. How many miles will it
cover in 10 minutes?
Solution:
As S=v*t
Suppose at speed v it covers k miles in 50minutes K=v*50
If k/5=v*10 So in 10 minutes it will cover K/5 miles

Hint: 50 mint=>k miles & 10 mint=>k/5 miles

Question.4:
What is the probability of sum 9 on both of two dice when rolled
together?
Solution:
Total outcomes for two dices=6*6=36
Events whose sum is 9 are (3,6),(6,3),(4,5),(5,4)=4
Probability of sum 9=4/36=1/9
Question.5:
Marble size is 20cm*30cm. How many marbles are required to
cover a square with side 3m?
Solution:
3m=300cm
Area of Square=300*300
No of Marbles=Area of Square/Marble Size
=300*300/20*30=150marbles
Question.6:
The sum of two numbers is 131. 5 less of one number is double
the other. Find the numbers?
Solution:
Suppose two numbers are x & y so
x + y=131..i
x-5=2y => x-2y=5.ii
Subtracting equ ii from i
3y=126 => y= 42
x=131-42=89
Question.7:
Ajmal completes a work in 3 hours. Akmal does the same job in 5
hours. In how many minutes they together complete the work?
Solution:
Ajmals Work Rate=1/3
Akmals work Rate=1/5
Combined Work Rate=1/3+1/5=8/15
Both Can complete work in 15/8=1.875Hour
1.875*60=112.5 minute
Question.8:
A person buys sugar worth 400. He sold 3/4th part at a loss of
10%. The remaining at a gain of 10%. What is the overall gain or
loss?
Solution:
part of 400 = 300 at a loss of 10%
10% loss on 300= 300-30=270
Remaining =400-300=100 at 10% gain
10% gain on 100= 100+10=110
Overall=270+110=380 Hence at 20 or 5% Loss
Question.9:
Find Range?
-3, -2, 0, 2, 2, 3
Solution:
Range = Final value Initial value
Range=3-(-3)=6

Note: First arrange the sequence in ascending order if its not

given sequence.
Question.10:
If we add a number with 3 it gives same answer when we
multiply that number with 3, then what was the number?
Solution:
Suppose number is x
So 3+x=3*x
2x=3
x=1.5
Question.11:
If father is double the age of his son. 20 years ago he was 12
times that of son. What is the age of father now?
Solution:
Suppose fathers age is F & sons age is S
So F = 2S
F-20=12(S-20)
2S-20=12S-240
S=22 and F=44
Question.11:
There are total 785 balls of 3 colors. Red and white are 605.
White and blue are 471. How many are white balls?
Solution:
W+B+R=785..i
R+W=605.ii
W+B=471.. Ii
Subtracting equ ii from I
B=180
W=471-180=291
Question.12
A herd consists of cows and hens. If the number of legs are 14 more
than twice the heads. Then how many cows are there?
Solution:
No of Cows= X
No of Hens= Y
Legs= 4X+2Y
Heads= X+Y
By Given Condition
4X+2Y=2(X+Y)+14
4X-2X=14
No of Cows =X=7
Question.13:
What is the value of x? If
3^ (1+x) + 5*3^x -8=0
Solution:
3 * 3^x + 5 * 3^x=8
3^x (3+5)=8
3^x=1
3^x=3^0
Hence x=0
Question.14:
If 80% of x is 50% of y and y is 20% of z then what is x in terms
if z???
Solution:
0.8x = 0.5y
y = 0.2z

0.8x = 0.5*(0.2*z)
x = z*0.5*0.2/0.8 = z*1/8= 12.5% z
Question.15:
Akram applied in 12 colleges and Nasir applied in 10 colleges.
They applied between 16 different colleges. How many colleges
received both of their applications?
Solution:
Total Colleges in which Akram & Nasir applied=12+10=22
Different Colleges=16
Colleges which received both of applications=22-16=6

Question.16:
A can do a piece of work in 4 hours; B and C together can do it in
3 hours, while A and C together can do it in 2 hours. How long
will B alone take to do it?
Solution:
As 1 hour work=1/4
(B+C)s 1 hour work=1/3
(A+C)s 1 hour work=1/2
(A+B+C)s 1 hour work= 1/4+1/3=7/12
Bs 1 hour work=7/12-1/2=1/12
So alone B takes 12 hours to do work
Question.17:
A company sell three types of mobiles worth 100, 125, and 225.
It sold equal no. of all mobiles. What is the percent share of
cheapest mobile?
Solution:

Total=100+125+225=450
Share of 100 worth= 100*100/450=22.22%
Question.18:
If a man running at 15kmph passed a bridge in 9 seconds, what is
the length of the bridge?
Solution:
As S=v*t
Length=(15*1000/3600)*9=37.5m
