Math 16:
A person wishes to accumulate taka 150,000 by the end of 15 years by a making equal half yearly
deposits over the next 15 years. If he/she earns 10% on the investment, how much must he/she
deposit at the end of each half year?
Solution:
Future value of Annuity (FVA) = P * [(1 + r/m)^n*m - 1] / r
Where,
P = Periodic payment or Annuity
r = Rate of Interest
n = Number of years
150000 = P * [{1 + (10/100)/2}^(15*2) - 1} / {(10/100)/2}]
=> 150000 = P * {(1.05^30 - 1 ) / .05}
=> P = 150000 / {(4.32194237515 - 1) / .05}
=> P = 150000 / (66.438847503)
=> P = 2257.72 (Ans.)
Math 17:
Two workers A & B are engaged to do a work. A working alone takes 8 hrs more to complete the job
than if both worked together. If B worked along, he would need 4.5 hrs more to complete the job
than they both working together. What time would they take to do the work together?
Solution:
1/(x+8)+1/(x+4.5)=1/x
x(x+4.5+x+8)=(x+8)(x+4.5)
2x^2+12.5x=x^2+12.5x+36
x^2=36
x=6
Math 18:
Tania's grandfather was 8 times older to her 16 years years ago. He would be 3 times of her age 8
years from now. 8 years ago what was the ratio of Tania & her grandfather.
Solution:
16 years ago, Tania=x
Grandfather=x+8x=9x
At present Tania=x+16
Grandfather=9x+16
9x+16+8=3(x+16+8)
9x+24=3x+72
6x=48
x=8
Tania=8+16=24
Grandfather=9*8+16=88
8 years ago, Tania=24-8=16
Grandfather=88-8=80
Required ratio=16 : 80=1:5
Math19: A train which travels at a uniform speed due to some mechanical fault after traveling for an
hour goes at 3/5 th of the original speed and reached the destination 2 hours late.If the fault had
occurred after traveling another 50 miles, the train would have reached 40 minutes earlier. What is
the distance between the two stations?
Solution:
Let,
Original speed =x km
Reduced " = 3x/5
Or, .6x
ATQ
50/(3x/5)-50/x=40/60
Or, x = 50
Again,
let,
Distance=D
ATq
1+(D-50)/.6x=(D/50)+2(converting into time)
Or, D= 200
=Distance= 200 km
Math 20: A &B can do a piece of work in 10 & 15 days. They work together for 5 days and the rest of
the work is done by C in 2 days. If they get Tk. 4500 for the whole work, how should they divide the
money?
Solution:
A 10 day =1 part
5 day=5/10=1/2,
B 15 day =1part
5 day=5/15=1/3
C does=1-(1/2+1/3)
=1/6
Ratio of A:B:C= 1/2:1/3:1/6
1/2*6:1/3*6:1/6*6
=3:2:1
A gets=4500*3/6=2250
B gets=4500*2/6=1500
C gets=4500*1/6=750
Math 21:
A,B,and C can do a piece of work in 16,32 and 48 days respectively. They started working together
but C left after working 4 days and B,2 days before the completion of work. How many days it took to
completed the work ?
Solution:
C's 4 days work=4/48=1/12
B's (x-2) days work=(x-2)/32
1/12+x/16+(x-2)/32=1
8+6x+3(x-2)=96
8+6x+3x-6=96
9x=94
x=94/9
Math 22:
The speed of the railway engine is 42 hour when no compartment is attached, and the reduction of
the speed directly proportional to the square root of the number of compartments attached. If the
speed of the train carried by this engine is 24 km per hour when 9 compartments are attached. what
is the maximum number of compartments that can be carried by the engine.
Solution: এই ইভেভটে ম্যাথ োর সম্াধান বেশ কভেকোর বেো হভেভে। ননজ োনেভে বেভে ননভেন।
Math 23: Divided Tk. 600 among A, B and C so that Tk. 40 more than 2/5th of A's share, Tk.20 more
than 2/7th of B's share & Tk. 10 more than 9/17th of C's share may all be equal. What is the A's
share?
Solution:
Let's( 2A/5)+40=x
A=(5x-200)/2
Again, (2B/7)+20=x
B=(7x-140)/2
Likewise,
(9C/17)+10=x
C=(17x-170)/9
ATQ
A+B+C=600
[(5x-200)/2+(7x-140)/2+(17x-170)/9]=600
Solving x=100
So A=(5*100-200)/2=150

Math 24:
Divide tk 5625 among A,B and C so that A may receive 1/2 as much as B & C and B 1/4 of what A
and C together receive?
Solution:
Let,
B+C=2x
So, A=x
“3x=5625
“x(A) =1875
C=2x-B
“C=3750-B
So, A+C=1875+3750-B
So,B=(5625-B)/4
ATQ,
A+B+C=5625
1875+(5625-B)/4+(3750-B)=5625
Solving, B=1125
So,C=3750-1125
=2625
Math 25:
A & B are 2 alloys of gold & copper prepared by mixing metals in proportions 7:2 & 7:11 respectively.
If equal quantities of the alloys are melted to form a third alloy C, the proportion of gold and copper
in C will be:
Solution:
1 kg of A and 1 kg of B make the 2 kg of alloy C.
Gold in 1 kg of A =1*7/9 Copper in 1 Kg of A = 1*2/9 =2/9.
Gold in 1 kg of B =1*7/18 = 7/18
copper in 1kg of B =11/18.
Gold in C =7/9 + 7/18 =21/18
Copper in C =2/9 +11/18 =15 /18
G: C =21/15 =7:5
