Differences Between ICIC and eICIC

The ICIC is an interference coordination solution in the frequency domain, which

assigns different frequencies to neighboring cells, and applies to inter-cell
interference coordination of macro cells or micro cells. The eICIC is an
interference coordination solution (using ABSs) in the time domain, which applies
to interference coordination between macro cells and micro cells. In a HetNet
network, the eICIC also achieves load balancing (using CRE) between macro
cells and micro cells.
