Thurs, 10/5 - Tift County Schools Fall Chorus Concert -


6:30 at the TCHS PAC. The concert on Thursday features
the seventh and eighth grade choirs and the combined
high school choirs.

Month of October - Food Drive After several storms and the


resulting destruction, the TCHS/DECA sponsored food drives comes
at an opportune time. We will be collecting non-perishable food
items again this year. Everyone is encouraged to participate. Last
year we collected 4210 items that were delivered to Brother
Charlies.

Because of Hurricane Irma, all students and staff will still have Fall
Break on October 9, but October 10 will now be a full instructional
day for students.

Save The Date!! Thurs, 10/26 Annual Title I Parent


Meeting with a twist! We invite and encourage you to
attend the Annual Title I Parent Meeting on Thursday,
10/26. After a very brief information session, there will be
stations set up around the Commons to learn more
about how your student is engaging through technology
by integrating the Chromebook in class. There will also
be assistance available for any Infinite Campus issues
and School Nutrition information. Parents will be entered
in a drawing for prizes and can earn additional entries for
taking the GA Parent Survey this night. We look forward to seeing you on

TCHS Peer-Tutoring Program The TCHS Peer-Tutoring


Program is designed to provide tutoring opportunities for
students who are experiencing difficulties in the areas of
Math, Science, CTAE, Foreign Language and Social Studies.
Peer-Tutoring Sessions will be conducted Monday-Thursday
from 3:15 PM to 3:45 PM in the Career Center in the guidance office. Please
contact your school counselor if you are interested in setting up tutoring
sessions or becoming a peer-tutor. Students requesting services would need to
do so a few days in advance due to scheduling procedures. Students providing
tutoring services will earn community service hours.

againtime for the Georgia Parent Survey. The
Georgia Parent Survey is modeled after the student
survey and contains 24 questions. Parents may
complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphone or tablet. For parents
that do not have access to the Internet, you are welcome to complete the Georgia
Parent Survey at school. All parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia
Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School
Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly
to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. The Georgia Parent Survey is
also available in Spanish. Parents may select the Spanish version within the survey.
Results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not
be posted online. The Georgia Parent Survey link is posted below.

A few chromebook reminders:


Chromebooks need some type of covering
Chromebooks should not be left on the floor where they can be stepped on
Food, drinks and other liquids should be kept away from chromebooks
Certain incidents are not covered under the warranty

2018 STAR Student requirements for seniors; see your guidance counselor if
you have questions about qualifications
Must be at TCHS Class of 2018 senior
Must be in top 10% of class at end of junior year
Must have the highest SAT score in ONE test administration/sitting
11/4 will be last SAT administration date eligible for 2018 STAR student
The old 3-part SAT will not be accepted for 2018 STAR student

Fee waivers for SAT or ACT are available in the Guidance Office.
REMIND: This is a way to receive important updates in the
way that is most convenient for you. You choose how you

PBIS Students with spotless attendance and NO tardies at the end


of the first 9 weeks will have a chance to enter a drawing for one of
two prizes. The Elite 8 students will ride in a limousine to
Olive Garden OR the Top 22 students will ride the Yellow
Cheese to Zaxbys for lunch in the month of October. Be Here and Be
On Time to have a chance for this prize.

members at TCHS. The show will be judged by local community

Sports News:
Tickets are now being sold for the 10/13 Pink Out game against
Lowndes. We are expecting a sell-out crowd and want to
make sure all our Blue Devil fans get tickets! Again, those will be
available in Mrs. Dean's office and we will also sell them at our
normal locations on game day - TCHS, NEC and ESMS during all
lunch periods and Brodie Visitors Side from 11-1 and again at 4-
6. Pre-sale price for these tickets is $7 and at 6pm on game day
all tickets become $10. Tickets for reserve seating are $15.

Competition Cheer Warner Robins

Sat, 10/7 - The Blue Devil Brigade will host the Spirit of the South Marching
Band Showcase at Brodie Field. The day will begin at 12:00 noon with the
ESMS band performing the national Anthem followed by 15 other high
school bands competing for the grand championship trophy. We would
love to have you be a part.
