Thanksgiving Food Drive - Our school is collecting non-


perishable food to create Thanksgiving baskets with the
makings for a full Thanksgiving meal. Items will be collected
until Nov 15. To donate to this food drive, deliver items to
the box located in the Guidance Office.

Please take a moment to complete the survey


using the link below. Its that time of year
againtime for the Georgia Parent Survey. The
Georgia Parent Survey is modeled after the student
survey and contains 24 questions. Parents may
complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphone or tablet. For parents
that do not have access to the Internet, you are welcome to complete the Georgia
Parent Survey at school. All parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia
Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School
Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly
to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. The Georgia Parent Survey is
also available in Spanish. Parents may select the Spanish version within the survey.
Results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not
be posted online. The Georgia Parent Survey link is posted below.

Wed, 11/15 HOSA/Red Cross Blood Drive All day - TCHS wrestling
room; students in HOSA, FBLA, FCCLA, SkillsUSA, along w/ Cassandra
Thomas, WBL coordinator, work very hard to make this happen.
Parents, grandparents, aunts, cousins, uncles and other family
members are welcome to donate too!
Every Tues/Thurs in November American Literature Milestones study sessions;
RM 116; 3:15-4:15; Go over study guides, rubrics, writing process, test-taking tips,
etc. Snacks will be provided!!

Fri, 11/17 - JUNIORS - Sign Up Today! If you are interested in


being a part of the Freshman Mentoring Program/TCHS
Ambassador, check your school email for the application. If
you are interested and did not sign up during your class
meeting, please see Mrs. Johnson.

Thurs, 11/23 DEADLINE - The Tift County School System has


arranged for additional insurance for the student Chromebooks
through the vendor, Worth Ave Group. This policy covers theft,
vandalism, fire, flood and natural disaster. Claims of this nature are
NOT covered by the current accident policy that Tift County Schools has in
place for all Chromebooks. If you would like to purchase this policy for the 2017-
18 school year, follow the instructions at this link:
https://www.worthavegroup.com/gpo/tiftschools. The policy purchase window
will close 11/23/17. There is no obligation to purchase this insurance policy. The
Tift County School System receives no benefit or financial gain from this policy.

TCHS Peer-Tutoring Program The TCHS Peer-Tutoring Program


is designed to provide tutoring opportunities for students who
are experiencing difficulties in the areas of Math, Science, CTAE,
Foreign Language and Social Studies. Peer-Tutoring Sessions will
be conducted Monday-Thursday from 3:15 PM to 3:45 PM in the
Career Center in the guidance office. Please contact your school counselor if you
are interested in setting up tutoring sessions or becoming a peer-tutor. Students
requesting services would need to do so a few days in advance due to scheduling
procedures. Students providing tutoring services will earn community service hours.

Calling all Creative Writers! We are currently taking submissions for the Young
GA Authors Writing Competition. We will name grade level winners for 10th, 11th
and 12th. Winners will advance to the district competition. You can submit a
poem, short story, academic report, personal narrative, essay or journalism. A
few guidelines: one entry per student; 1900 word max length; original student
work; typed Times New Roman, 12 font, double-spaced, printed on one side of
paper only. Submission are due to your English teacher or Mrs. Debbie Salter
(RM 106) any time between now and Jan 10, 2018.
Club News:

Congratulations to the TCHS ROTC Drill Team Awarded 5 trophies this


weekend. We took 2nd Place Overall in the Unarmed Drill Division with
tough competition. A total of 16 teams were present. Our Drill Team
Commanders were: Mellisa Rockmore, Dante Smith, Anthony Baisden, Amber
Lairsey and Zachary Driskell. A special recognition to all Tift ROTC members for
showing phenomenal sportsmanship while facing intense competition!

enter the gym through the side student parking lot doors nearest the
ROTC classroom. You do not have to be an athlete to join and the
club is FREE! Everyone is welcome and we hope to see you there!

Sports News:

Air Rifle team had a great showing Sat in the Gator Invitational Tift Co
shooters came in 2nd in the counties competing
Tift Co Bass Busters will compete Sat, 11/18 on Lake Oconee. The fishing team
will pre fish on Fri and hit the lake early Sat morning. Our team has 7 boats and
will fish in the first flight this week.

Thurs, 11/16 - Its RAFFLE TIME! A Medium Big Green Egg Grill
with stand and other accessories will be one lucky
winners. Get your tickets from a swimmer or a coach. $5 each
OR 5 for $20. Drawing to be held on Nov 16. Help Support your
Tift Co Blue Devil Swim Team!

Fri, 11/17 TCHS Swim Team - TCC Meet in Thomasville

Fri, 11/17 Round 2 TCHS Football Blue Devils travel to Hillgrove High School
in Powder Springs. Game time is 7:30. Tickets can be purchased online at
www.gofan.co/hillgrove. Tickets are $10. Tix can also be purchased at the
stadium. We will NOT have any tix for purchase here.
Students attending the game will be allowed to leave school at 11:00 on Friday
provided they submit a Permission Form to the attendance office prior to Friday
AND bring a ticket stub to the attendance office on Monday, November 27
when we return from Thanksgiving Break. Permission forms will be available in
the Front Office, Media Center and on our school website.
