Neck

Material : Mahogany

70 cm long, 9 cm wide, 3 cm thick

1. Decrease the thickness to 2 cm with a planer.

2. Draw an axis on the board by dividing the width of the board equally and then draw the
middle line all the way through the length of the board.
3. Measure the distance from the end of the required headstock to the nut point 20 cm long.
Draw and cut an angle of 14 from that point to the other side of the board (the determined
back side of the neck).
4. Flip the headstock piece around to the back of the neck board, and then glue them together.

5. Measure the length from the nut point to the required 12th fret at 32.5 cm. Add and cut 2
cm from the 12th fret to make a neck and body joining later.

6. Take the rest of the wood that has been cut, and then cut it into three pieces.
7. Stack them and glue them together to the back of the neck to make a heel.

8. Draw the neck pattern on the front side of the neck with the axis as the reference. Width at
nut is 52 mm (26 mm from the axis to the right, 26 mm from the axis to the left). Width at
12th fret is 64 mm (32 mm from the axis to the right, 32 mm from the axis to the left)
9. Draw the headstock pattern with headstock templates on the front and the back side.
10. Cut the neck pattern from the nut to the other end which is going to be joined to the body.

11. Shape the neck with a rasp.

12. Draw and shape the the heel with a chisel and rasp.

13. The thickness at 1st fret is 15 mm, and at 9th fret is 19 mm.

14. These are the measurements of the dove tail. This one is the top of the heel which will be
glued to the fingerboard.
And this one is the bottom of the heel.

15. Draw and cut the pattern.

16. The height of the dove tail which is going to fit into the body is 7 cm.

17. The making of the headstock cover is basically the same way to make the back board and
the sound board. Cut the board symmetrically, glue it, and draw the pattern with the
template. The difference is that its a rosewood, and its also smaller.
18. Glue it right on the axis of the headstock.

19. Mark the headstock with the required tuning machine and a nail to make the tuning peg
slots.
20. Make sure the tuning peg slots will be perpendicular from the headstock side, and then
clamp it so that the headstock stays still when its being drilled.

21. Drill the headstock inside the drawn pattern to make the slots, and then shape the slots with
a rasp.
22. Put an acrylic template under the headstock, and then shape it with a router.

23. Shape a piece of rosewood and then glue and fit it under the heel.
