Oral Language Extension Group

Dear Parent/Caregiver,

My name is Carmen Leung and I am an intern at Reynella East College. I am in my final year of
my Master of Teaching degree at Flinders University. During term 2, I spent 10 weeks as a pre-
service teacher in a year 4/5 class. For the remaining year, I will be implementing a project for
our high achieving students.

Your child has been identified by their teacher as a high achiever who would benefit from being
extended.

The project will aim to:

Develop deep understanding and critical thinking skills

Become effective problem solvers
Extend analytical and creative skills
Successfully work as independent and cooperative learners

These will be achieved by a series of oral language activities that will be thinking-centered. It
will include speaking, listening, discussions and expression of ideas, experiences and opinions.
I will be working with a group of 9 students for 45-50 minutes on Tuesdays.
