Reflection for Lesson Presented

Presenting in front of my fellow students and a master teacher was a unnerving experience

knowing that these people will critique the way the lesson was presented.

During and after the lesson, I noticed several things that I will keep on doing and several that I

have to improve. First, I will start with the things I will continue on doing in the classroom.

Having a variety of engaging activities worked really well. The students were focused on the

lesson having no downtime during the class. As I was going through the lesson presentation

feedback, majority of the people who filled it out mentioned that I demonstrated courtesy,

respect, a calm persona and voice which allowed the students to be more at home in the

classroom. Through the different activities, there was a lot of repetition and reinforcement going

on. This also worked well for students to grasp and absorb the information I was giving them.

Now, on to the things that need refinement. I have to be very clear and specific with the objective

so that students know what to expect. Another thing I need is clarify the instructions for one of

my activity (how and why it rains) for specificity and to model said instructions. Some students

were lost and asked me to repeat the instructions. There was also a suggestion to add movements

to the water cycle song I taught the kids. Yes, it would have been 100% better with movements.

And lastly, I will make sure that I will have assigned roles within a group to facilitate smooth

and efficient group work.

The lesson presentation was both a humbling and enriching learning experience for me. It has put

me in a situation where I did things I know but did not plan or consider using during the lesson

planning. Observing and being sensitive to the students body language helped me be creative
and tweak my teaching style. I was able to catch a negative behavior before it actually happened

which allowed me to continue with the lesson without distraction. Time wise, I learned how to

adjust both the pace and the substance of the lesson based on the remaining time I had.
