Compression Made to Measure
Standard-type cylinders, with amply dimensioned
cooling water and gas chambers, involve very low
velocities within the chamber, almost no measurable
pulsation, smooth cooling, high dampening and
consequently longer piston and guide ring and valve
life times. Form, material and fixation of the pistons
are such that existing dynamic forces or stresses
are absorbed without any problems.

Strong Crank Drive for Long

Maintenance Intervals
Proven long-term drive mechanism parts, such as
crosshead, crosshead bolt, connecting rod and
crankshaft and properly selected materials for
dynamically and statically stressed parts warrant a
smooth running of the motion work and longer life.
The oil coolers mounted in the drive mechanism
prevent premature wear. The dynamically balanced
crankshaft is equipped with roller bearings. Form
and material have been selected such that existing
starting moments can be absorbed without any
problems. Sufficient oil supply to the appropriate
lubricating points in the motion work is provided by
a properly proportioned force-feed lubrication system,
consisting of mechanical pump, oil filter and well
dimensioned pipes.

Highly Effective Oil Draining

A highly effective oil wiper packing warrants oil-free
operation between motion work and distance piece.
Furthermore, in combination with an extra long,
stroke-free distance piece and an additional oil scraper
ring on the piston rod, it is guaranteed that the agent
to be compressed will be absolutely free of oil. Large
assembly openings at the motion work provide
quick accessibility to all parts for the purpose of
maintenance.

Complete Water Separation

Separators of galvanized materials or of high-grade
steel provide complete separation of the accumulating
condensate without resultant rust formation. Large
capacity receivers are provided to reduce pressure loss
and simultaneously maintain the separating process.
The condensate is continuously drained off by means
of automatic traps and is fed to a common condensate
main, which is piped up to the edge of the skid.
Innovation and
Design Capabilities of
CO2 Compressors
Global Innovation
For more than 75 years, NEUMAN & ESSER (NEA)
has been a leader in the manufacture of quality,
oil-free reciprocating compressors - particularly for
the compression of CO2 and inert gases.

Based on the latest research and experience with

its reciprocating compressors in the process
gas industry, NEUMAN & ESSER GROUP has
improved its design and developed standard sizes
of CO2 compressors to meet the demands of the
CO2 market.

NEA compressors are used as individual units or as

part of a complete system for the recovery of pure
CO2 from:

+ fermentation processes
+ natural sources
+ chemical processes
As well as:
+ beverage providers
+ dry ice production plants.

CO2 Recovery: The Classical Unit

For breweries, besides their initial supply of CO2,
the recovery of CO2 from their own fermentation
process is another profitable possibility to satisfy
their CO2 demand. Apart from advantages in "All Inclusive: The Packaged Unit"
price Our scope of supply offers as an option the oil-
and environmental technology of the recovered free, water-cooled reciprocating compressor as
carbon dioxide, the main purpose is improved an individual bare unit or a complete CO2 com-
quality, as the purity of this gas is a factor in the pressor system, designed and built by NEA or by
quality of beer and soft drinks. Major factories the CO2 plant constructors. In a turnkey plant,

Global in Design and Service

The technique, organization and strategy of the enterprise were adjusted simultane-
ously with the requirements of the CO2 market. NEA established sales and applica-
tion centers all over the world in strategically important countries. These centers are
occupied with the design of the compressor equipment, the purchase and mount-
ing of this equipment in the country of the operator, taking into consideration local
rules and regulations, and putting the complete compressor plant into operation.
This is of particular advantage to CO2 plant constructors with international clients.
The service company of the NEA GROUP, NEAC Compressor Service -
represented all over the world - offers complete
assembly and start-up commissioning, which
implies the advantage of less assembly work on
the part of the client. Rebuilding and upgrading
the compressor plant at a later date can be
accomplished by experienced NEAC technical
specialists to meet new performance.
And last but not least,
NEAC offers worldwide
availability of its ex-
perts, 24 hours a day,
7 days a week, as
well as quick spare
parts supply.
