Ratio Questions

1. If the ratio of income of A, B and C is 5 : 6 : 7 ; their saving ratio is 1 : 2 : 3 and Ratio of As income to
Bs saving is 15 : 4. Then find the ratio of Cs income to As saving?
Solution:

A : B : C As Income/ Bs Saving = 15 / 4 , Cs Income / As Saving = ?

Income: 5 : 6 : 7
Saving: 1 : 2 : 3

Lets Represent both the quantities by x and y

A : B : C
Income: 5x : 6x : 7x
Saving: 1y : 2y : 3y

Therefore, As Income/ Bs Saving = 15 / 4 = 5x /2y , x = 3 and y = 2

Thus

A : B : C
Income: 15 : 18 : 21
Saving: 2 : 4 : 6

Thus,
Cs Income / As Saving = 21 / 2 is the Answer

2. If the ratio of income of A, B and C is 2 : 3 : 4 ; their saving ratio is 1 : 2 : 3 and Ratio of As income to
As saving is 7 : 3. Then find the ratio of total income of A, B, C to the total saving of A, B, C?
Solution:

A : B : C As Income/ As saving = 7 / 3,
Income: 2 : 3 : 4 A+B+Cs Income / A+B+Cs Saving = ?
Saving: 1 : 2 : 3

As, As Income/ As saving = 7 / 3, then we will multiply 7/2 and 3 as following

A : B : C
Income: 2*7/2 : 3*7/2 : 4*7/2
Saving: 1*3 : 2*3 : 3*3
Or

A : B : C
Income: 7 : 21/2 : 14
Saving: 3 : 6 : 9

Now,
Total Income (A+B+C) / Total Saving (A+B+C) = {(2 + 3 + 4)7/2} / {(1 + 2 + 3)3} Taking 7/2 and 3 Common
= (63/2) / 18
= 63/36
= 7/ 4 Is the Answer

3. If the ratio of income of A, B and C is 2 : 3 : 4 ; their saving ratio is 1 : 2 : 3 and Ratio of As income to
As Expenditure is 7 : 3. Then find the ratio of total income of A, B, C to the total saving of A, B, C?
Solution:

A : B : C As Income/ As Expenditure = 7 / 3,
Income: 2 : 3 : 4 A+B+Cs Income / A+B+Cs Saving = ?
Saving: 1 : 2 : 3

As, Saving = income Expenditure

Therefore, Saving = 7 -3 = 4
Thus for A, Income = 7 and Saving = 4
Solving as above,

A : B : C
Income: 2*7/2 : 3*7/2 : 4*7/2

Saving: 1*4 : 2*4 : 3*

Total Income (A+B+C) / Total Saving (A+B+C) = {(2 + 3 + 4)7/2} / {(1 + 2 + 3)4} Taking 7/2 and 4 Common
= 63/2 / 24
= 63/48
= 21/16 Is the Answer
