    2nd Grade Ukulele Melody

    October 25th, 2017


    Objective: Get students to pluck out the first half of Mary Had a Little Lamb.
    Introduce students to the concept of plucking a melody. Teacher plays a melody not related to
    what the students will learn. (The melody itself will be a surprise for them)

    Introduce students to string names on the ukulele.


    o G C E A Good Cows Eat Apples (or have students come up with pneumonic
    devices)
    Introduce students to frets
    Challenge! Find the open E string.
    o Students then play 2nd fret on the C string
    Follow PowerPoint directions step by step to lead into the first half of Mary Had a Little
    Lamb.
