In case of couplings with constant fill installed

in a horizontal position the fill quantity can be
determined using the fill check diagram and the
so-called screws-counting-method.
The sight glass is usually used as reference:

Step 1: In case the sight glass is not used as

reference screw, unscrew the fusible
plug.
Step 2: Rotate coupling until the operating fluid
does just not yet leak at the opening
of the unscrewed plug or until it is just
visible at the sight glass
Step 3: Count number of screws starting at the
reference screw towards the vertical
axis. The first screw is the one behind
the line of intersection through the
reference screw, seen in direction of
counting.
