The 2015 Mid-year population estimates were published in June 2016 by the Office for National
Statistics. Prior to the 2011 Census, Luton Borough Council considered that the ONS were under-
estimating the population of Luton through evidence from local administrative data-sets. Since the
2011 Census the estimate has improved but there has been a rapid expansion of the local GP
register indicating that there could still be some under-estimation and the Business Intelligence
team will be quality assuring these data.
