Standard 5: Use a variety of methods to monitor student learning
Criteria F: Works with other staff and building and district leadership in analysis of student progress. Artifact: Observation Notes
In a special ed classroom, there is lots of monitoring and charting students
learning. One thing that happens during this process is collaboration between other faculty members. When my CT is observing a students behavior for example, my CT will take notes and data of the students actions and the paraeducators actions. Once the data is taken, my CT will discuss what they saw with the para and other special education teachers so that everyone is aware of the students behavior and/or academic progress. My CT will also discuss this information with the students classroom teacher so that they are aware of how the student has been progressing when pulled out of the classroom. I will definitely collaborate with my faculty members in my future special ed classroom, as not all students have a simple rhyme or reason to why they do what they do. Witnessing my CT collaborate with faculty, psychologists, and the AEA has showed me that collaboration helps you and the student.
