Course Description
This course addresses First Nations, Metis, and Inuit content that consists of;
1. Oral Tradition Storytelling 7. The Indian Act
2. Treaties & Treaty 7 8. Indian Residential Schools
3. The Blackfoot/Blackfeet People and Sacred 9. The Metis
Sites. 10. The Inuit
4. The Blackfoot Language; Greetings, 11. Indigenous Science
numbers, and objects. 12. Ojibwa Woodlands Art
5. Ceremonies & Tipi Raising Protocols 13. Stick Game
6. Traditional Knowledge on the Head-
Smashed-In-Buffalo-Jump

This course will also incorporate fun and knowledgeable activities that meet Social Studies, English Language Arts,
Math, Science, and Art learning outcomes found within the Alberta Education curriculum. There will be elders and
other guest speakers invited to our class and will share their knowledge on First Nations traditions, history, and
current environmental projects taking place within southern Alberta.
