Identification of aspect of literacy Recognition/identification of words with r-controlled vowels

with the spelling or, er, and ar. This is the curriculum for this grade. I determined this needed to be
readdressed with students after they had already been taught r-controlled vowels previously
during the week, as some students struggled with the concept. I chose this as additional support
to reconfirm the concept with students.
The materials required for this are:

Student Resources:

o Worksheets provided to them.

o Glue sticks
o Scissors
o A Pencil

Teacher Resources

o Worksheets
o Glue stick
o Scissors
o A Pencil/Pen
The intended outcome for this intervention is to reinforce the concept of r-controlled vowels,
specifically or, er, and ar.
Results:
o Successes The student all completed the worksheet accurately with 100% correct
answers. Showing that they had mastered the concept or r-controlled vowels with the
spelling -or, -er, and -ar.
o Challenges Some the challenges presented was keeping students on task, as they
wanted to talk with friends, play with the glue or scissors. A way to address this issue is
to tell students that if they are off task with a classmate or playing with materials then
they will have their glue and scissor privileges taken away and they will complete the
worksheet with just a pencil.
